Damn, my 2000 dodge ram 2500 5.9L Cummins flat bed is set up damn near the same way. I have a property maintenance company that mainly specializes in demolition, debris removal, I also do a lot of general repair work. So its very advantageous to have all my tools with me. I am usually towing a 7x14 foot dump trailer and a out 50% of the time either a compact tractor or a mini excavator.
@metaspencer2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a great setup. Yeah I haul a 16' dump trailer daily so great to have access to the flatbed
@cotynietling25674 жыл бұрын
Great setup now you just need a air compressor hidden under flatbed with a hose reel above so you can air up tires on pickup or trailer wherever you go
@metaspencer4 жыл бұрын
You're so right about the compressor. I have a small one that rides in back between the boxes, but storing it underneath would be WAY better. I'll see how it works out

Looks functional. The only thing I might have considered doing differently would have been to hang the boxes over each side by 3" just so a sheet of plywood or drywall would fit between them.

Those larger holes up top, would a nut, washer and bolt been a good sealer? Or some type of patch panel? Lots of room for activities in those boxes! Any update on the FICM? still running ruff?
@metaspencer4 жыл бұрын
A couple of nuts and a washer with some sealant would totally do the trick on those larger holes -- I was just wanting to go another route. I'm guessing it'll evolve over time -- just ordered some handles to slap on the back, for instance. As for the FICM I'm less worried about it than I was as it's been running really good. When I bought it the truck may have been sitting for a long time, so the new oil and a few tanks of gas seem to have done wonders for it, along with better heat off the new glow plugs. But I've gotta get to work on the leaking exhaust manifold

@@metaspencer I did that with mine, best thing I did. Got rid of the worry that something MIGHT slide off the back! Used a rough sawn 2x6 with the "ruff" knocked down slightly with a 60 grit disc on a grinder. The grain was beautiful, almost to nice to use for that. Added a couple handles since it had some weight to it. Made some 'Z' brackets out of 1/4" x 2" flat stock and bolted to the back of the toolboxes up about 1/2 way of the 6" board. Worked perfectly.
