Serial ports have 9 pins, that long connector was I think a parallel port, but those are normally used for printers! That might be the first parallel port mouse I've ever seen and I've handled 1000's of mice in my time... It might be from an early business machine or maybe part of an art package for PC's pre-mice... Of all your mice that one might be something different! It's good to know your folks are enjoying watching your videos... :-)

Thanks for the info Martin - I may have to do some more checking on that mouse then. Perhaps try it on ebay! Dad is still able to watch the vids on his phone but probably won't see the comments.

Chris, I feel you are talking straight to me with those baby blues! 😂. I would like to see you reverse the plastic UV yellowing. I don’t think you can. But most importantly, Big Love to Papa!

Thanks Shane! I've seen the retrobrite process done to reverse the yellowing, but I really need to give it a try myself at some stage. Another video I guess! Thanks mate 😊

Love looking at all that hardware. 9:53 thats a fry-wire screen door latch :) Also i wouldn't throw that relay out looks just like the ones in my vintage car. Maybe a possible market for it if it's working.

Thanks Hugh, yes you are correct with the screen door latch - it came to me after I'd finished filming! The relay does look similar - I'll have to investigate that. Cheers 😊

Hard to believe those crt's can bring such a price. It wasn't that long ago they were considered worthless. I remember picking up my first tv for $12 at a junk shop. It was 20inch and had fake wood 🪵 on the case. No AV plugs just uhf anf vhf screw connections. But it did have color 😄 Good times.

Given that most of them went to landfill, there's not enough to go around all the retro gaming nerds nowadays! It's a classic supply & demand situation 😊👍

Thanks Alex. Yeah it doesn't take long for computer stuff to be outdated and then fall into the collectable category. It means we are getting older, faster! 😱🤣

It's amazing that those mice are now worth something when you think about the sheer number that have just been thrown away. But then I think (imagine smoke coming out my ears due to the effort 🤣), if not many were thrown away, they wouldn't be worth much. Supply and demand always drives the economy.
@TheUltimateRecycler
@TheUltimateRecycler 9 ай бұрын
That's exactly correct! I often tell customers that if everyone had of kept (whatever item we were talking about) - then they would be everywhere and pretty much worthless! The whole system relies on most on the stuff not surviving!

yellowing is a reaction in the plastic caused by UV sun light

Being PS/2 connection mice they’d be late 90s, early 00s. The lighter the more saleable as retrobrite on mice is a pain.
@TheUltimateRecycler
@TheUltimateRecycler 9 ай бұрын
Thanks - I was about right then! I may have to try retrobrite and see what's involved. Another video perhaps!

(from Google) "Drywall is a type of building material used in the construction of walls and ceilings in homes and buildings. It is usually a mix of gypsum plaster, shredded paper, a foaming agent, mildew, additives, and water. Drywall is sometimes known as gypsum board, plasterboard, and sheetrock." Ah,lovely, just four different names, so there's no confusion :)
@TheUltimateRecycler
@TheUltimateRecycler 9 ай бұрын
Hahaha, yep. I used the term 'drywall' as that's what I hear people call it in the US. We normally call it plasterboard here.
Please be kind🙏
