Was super excited when you guys brought it out on the stream. Definitely buying one for remote gaming pcs.

@@Team5tream it’s a very slick setup tuned for that job.

Very nice design. With rising cost of cloud, these designs will succeed economics wise.

Awesome stuff. It's good to see there are more affordable solutions in the market, especially for a smaller business.

This is a unique platform in that the cost is more aligned with consumer, but they still have plenty of enterprise-features that make them perfect for bare metal sue cases that don't need so much power.

From a heat point of view. I know the motherboard being in front is great but what about motherboards where there are no fans on them and they need fans to be pushed on them?

I didn't know you let discord users use those PCs! I would be curious the advantage of 4004 Epyc versus Ryzen? Both have high clock speed, more cores, Enterprise features? Ryzen would be far less expensive for the same x86 compute and for gaming, GPU would be bottleneck ?
@fujinshu19 күн бұрын
Epyc 4004 is validated for enterprise use and features such as ECC memory, but they’re functionally the same Ryzen CPUs.

Going to reserve my comments until rest of video is done but feels like they could have built this differently with open compute maybe.

Keep cost in mind.
@kristopherleslie83432 ай бұрын
@@StorageReview that is very true. I started looking back at that business model I can see it’s cost prohibiting at some point since we have a few major companies failing at this in scale.

Good for VDI too?
@StorageReview2 ай бұрын
To host multiple VDI sessions? You could but for larger VDi deployments you may want something more server-like with more DRAM and resources.

Does the BMC allow remote KVM ?

That is the intent, yes.

They're SOO LONG not a very efficient use of space. Should share redundant PSUs - 10 PSUs is super expensive and more failed units.
@StorageReview2 ай бұрын
We didn't find them to be long really. As to the PSUs, the intent of this design is a shared-nothing architecture to let them silo as individual bare metal servers. If you want blades, those exist, this use case is pretty specific.

@@StorageReview Looking more into it: Max up to 105W (TDP) So you said it's for gaming but doesn't even support the 3 fastest processors! Also I'm surprised it's not 2.5gbe and just 1gbe since that's the standard on AM5 consumer boards.

@@lctsi most gaming servers don’t even need the GPU. We used one as a Rust server.

@acubley I looked, and it's still prohibited in the nvidia geforce driver software eula. It doesn't even have exceptions for cryptocurrency mining now.

I think that might be why Shadow cloud gaming uses NVIDIA workstation GPUs instead.
