Shoutout to the person in the 2nd story for doing such a cool colour scheme. I absolutely ADORE the heresy WE colours and I love to see them in 40k especially as more of a 30k player myself. Check forgeworld and the black books for inspiration and bits for your army they have some great models and heads/shoulders you could use!

27:18 I just knew someone was going to take issue with their colour scheme. I'm glad everyone else was chuffed to see the WE. The personal creativity we have in this hobby is what I love about it. Infinite possibilities. My Death Guard warband have their own lore with colours that represent pre-heresy DG and Dusk Raiders.

Baldemort retells a story about the Custode that was with the Emperor when they found Angron. The Emperor confides to the Custode that he knows the Butchers Nails will kill Angron quicker if he has nothing to hate and compares him to a shark and how it must always move and hunt or die. The Custode then realizes that big E did what he did to Angron in order to give Angron something to hate forever which would extend his sons life even though it is miserable. The Custode sheds a tear for the realization that the Emperor loved his son enough to let him hate his father if it meant he would live. That story gets me every time

So it was damned if you do damned if you don't. Without anger, violence, and conflict, the butcher's nails would've reduced angron to a brain-damage wreck, yet if he pulled them out of Angron, he would've died a painful death? Life was hard on him since day one.

Problem with Baldemort is he dishonestly mixes his fan fic with canon lore, it's why i avoid his stuff. Not saying it's the case here but it wouldn't surprise me.

@@Perkustin it’s a story from an old white dwarf. Or codex. I can’t remember which. Also, I can see what you’re saying but I wouldn’t describe it as dishonest really. He just tells stories. Some are abridged cannon stories, some are his or others fanfic. I do wish he would detail which is which but in most cases, you can either tell or the comment section will let you know. It is a testament to his skill as a writer and narrator that it can be extremely difficult to tell the difference though

I play World Eaters and that rude guy is so wrong lore wise as well. Plenty of WE use their original legion colors like the Gladiator Cadre 331 warband

"You're painting a Horus Heresy scheme on 40K models!" And yet people still paint things like Emperor's Children in their Heresy colours instead of black and pink like they're Hart Foundation rejects - double the "Fuck off, Jeff!" to that tool, I love seeing armies painted in unexpected schemes and I bet those World Eaters look utterly boss.

Not sure about 6th, as I started in 7th, but by and large, deep striking in 1st wasn't allowed. One exception was Grey Knights. They had a detachment that was allowed to place everyone in Deep Strike Reserve, and roll for arriving first turn. This essentially allowed you to nullify your opponents first turn if you lost initiative. Sounds broken, but seeing as the detachment was mostly terminators accompanied by dread knights, your model count ended up being quite low. Compared to the shenanigans Craft world Eldar were capable of, it evened things out a bit.

It's right what north said about 40k lore youtubers, I love salamanders but i watched a Baldermort video on black legion and straight after that I went and bought a chaos combat patrol. 40k lore guys and girls do alot for the hobby!

There's a distinct difference between being a competitive asshole and playing to give your opponent a worthy game. I will never 'throw' a match in an obvious way; I do play to give my opponent a challenge but win or lose I remember its a game to be enjoyed. I dont nitpick; if people make errors or forget things I try to be helpful and dont at all mind going back to roll stuff that was missed to a fair point. Much like you Exile, I also have a 'don't play' list in my head of those people who take the game far to seriously and are just exhausting to play. You dont even need to play them to notice them when you're experienced enough in the hobby that eventually spotting them comes easy. I make a point after every game of shaking my opponent's hand and saying 'well fought' as well as making some compliment on my opponent's playing. Like how a notable unit in my opponent's army might have racked up a crazy body count or accomplished some thematic feat during the game, or just been a royal struggle to bring down. Win or lose. It always imo drives home the point that its meant to be a fun hobby to be enjoyed and cool unit performances or heroic moments on the tabletop like that are what we play for.

Whenever I hear someone pronounce cretin that way, I always wonder what they have against people from Crete... My wife is American, so I've asked her more than once about it. Last time I did it she hit me with a spoon.

I feel for the pre-heresey color scheme armys in 40k ❤ I have an Emperor's Children army where my Noise Marines & Legionaries are converted intercessors/assault intercessors painted in Phoenician Purple and Abaddon Black with Old Gold accents. Where I can run them as Chaos EC or as Loyalist Souldrinkers best of both worlds! I am currently working on converting the new Leviathan Terminators into worshipers of Slaanesh.

Dang that was my idea too with world eaters! I like the blue and white, and i wanted to do a pre-heresy warband under Mago's banner. But for 40k. That guy sounded like a jerk -sorry that happened.

I am also from teh deserts of teh west like the guy in first story, and yea not alot of narrative players here very hardcore community and few and far between you will play against someone nice. I add the nice people as a friend and always schedule games with them and avoid the toxic tryhards.
