In our latest video, "The Historic Battle For El Toro Kickflip | Dave Bachinsky" we met up with Dave at El Toro High School to revisit the location where he made skateboarding history. 18 Years later, it is still...arguably...the only flip trick landed down the stairs. Why is this so debatable? Well, is Chris Joslin's 360 Flip considered a land? Is a Kickflip Melon Grab considered a "flip trick"? You decide. Either way, this moment changed Dave's life forever and cemented him in skate history. With appearances by legends; Ryan Sheckler, Greg Lutzka, Ricki Bedenbaugh, Heath Kirchart, Ryan Decenzo, Aaron Jaws Homoki, TJ Rogers, Nyjah Huston, Clive Dixon, Dylan Stark, Chris Joslin, Vincent Milou, Adrien Bullard, Jamie Foy and more. Be sure to check out Dave Bachinsky's "My War" on Thrasher Magazine and stay tuned right here next week for a brand new Ryan Sheckler video!
Check out The Most Famous Kickflip video!

Perfectly said man that's exactly why it was always my favourite kickflip...the VX look and feel mixed with the sound of the rollup and the big shoes...just the way Dave rolls on the board his foot positioning just before he snaps it...that split second of silent hangtime and then that massive STOMP....For me no modern kickflip can ever match that kind of raw heaviness...just so fkn gnarly

Crazy no one's landed another flip trick in almost 2 decades since then. But really, 20 stairs is pushing the limit of what a person can do, flip trick wise. You can only go so fast and jump so high and take so much impact.

I remember my friend telling me about this guy from the east coast who supposedly kickflipped el toro. Back then rumors spread about tricks, but you didn't know if anything was true or not until you saw the footage because you had to wait a while until the skate video came out. At best you would see a photo or sequence in a magazine as a teaser for the clip. So we checked out his most recent video parts and one of his hammers was kickflipping a huge set. Somewhere around the 15 or 16 stair mark like Dave talked about. When we saw that, my friend and I both looked at each other and said "I believe it."

The fact that no one has landed a flip trick (without a grab) since is a testament to how insane that kickflip actually is. Its criminal how badly Joslin was robbed of that tre flip. Brilliant piece Storied!!! :) Dave is such a legend!! The angle from the top is so crazy too, the way the board just floats beautifully with him and sticks to his feet all the way down Everest to an impossibly seeming smooth landing.... so mental to this day... and how casually he announces that he hit his head!!! always made me LOL... It's like each attempt before the make was just 'a bit of a nuisance' to him rather than a potential months out slam like it would be for nearly everyone else!!!

I've never seen anyone else attempts or tricks other than what I've saw on here.. but the amount of SOLID tries.. meaning he landed where the board should have every time.. but the board didn't make it to him every time. That's solid 100% commitment every time, thinking "I got this" but the board not committing with him. You can usually tell if someone lands like they planned on the board being there or not.. this man was expecting to land it before he had it in the bad. SALUTE MY MAN! History in the making for sure. The Tre Flip by the other man was a land imo.. but I understand for bragging rights how someone wouldn't want a further ride away. NEVER STOP BEING YOURSELVES PEOPLE! YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU ARE CAPEABLE OF UNTIL YOU DO IT!

I'm 36yrs old and just watching this makes me want to make a comeback lol. I was good locally, didn't care for attention or being in the spotlight.. I remember seeing this when it was released and it made me want to go there just to do a kickflip then a backside flip over it.. I still want to because I know my mind and body. I'm hungry to step it up

The ridiculous thing is that after those monster hucks and slams, he made the final make look so condescendingly simple. Like, strap on a pair, it's not hard, just commit and it's like a 3 set at your local park. And Joslin's tre was a make. No further correspondence will be entered into.
