My father is from Iran. Met mother here in the U.S. before the revolution. I was told when she was in college after the takeover to not mention certain details of yourself on college campuses if you were from Iran. Because some of the Iranian students would spy on you and send back information. They couldn't do anything to you on U.S. soil. But if you had family back in Iran they could make their lives a living hell.

That’s the last thing you will ever give them and that’s what they will remember you by and every time they go back and look at it (which they will) it will break their heart over and over and over again.
