I will always be grateful to Jesper Kyd for giving us the Assassin's Creed II soundtrack!

Okay, this is very specific: But Jesper's arrangement of Ave Maria from Hitman: Blood Money was so perfect and juxtaposed the game so well that it has stuck with me for more than a decade.

Thanks for this Austin. Jesper is easily one of my biggest heroes and influences and his advice is really spot on and I'm glad to find he's actually really cool. I'm two years into composing and finally getting through to the other side.

I didn’t pay much attention to music back when ACII came out, so when I went to listen to Ezio’s family just now I had no memory of the track. My playthroughs of the games in the Ezio trilogy are some of my fondest memories in my gaming history, and that song really brought me back. Thanks for that. …No thanks for making me feel old.

I was playing Warhammer Vermintide 2 with friends. It's a fun game and all, but nothing too remarkable on anything - unless I finally snapped back a little and noticed how legendary of a soundtrack I was listening to. That alone felt like it raised the quality of the game as a whole, it was so good. Looked up who it was, and there we go - I wasn't surprised it was Jesper, but it was certainly thrilling to find him this way in a random game.

I always hum on then Main theme from Valhalla when I walk around in my garden. Had no idea that it was the same composer as AC 1 and 2. Gratulationer till Jesper! Austin, your content is very informative and entertaining. Keep doing what you are doing. A question about the sound and music in Valhalla; there seems to be a bit harsh lossy compression in Valhalla (I'm not sure about the correct word to describe it). Is sound compression something a composer or "sound director" have to negotiate about during game development? And is there a reason for it, like reducing game size or a engine limitation?

Have you thought about having Chance Thomas on? he's one of my personal favourites, mostly because of his Lord of the Rings music but also because he's got some stories to tell and is a nice guy.

Ive always wondered who did the vocals on Ezios family. In my mind its this talented little choir boy with reddish hair. Always been a big fan of him, who ever he is. He might also be a she, but thats not important. Also loved the stuff about the demo scene and, lets be honest, the cracking scene. Best wishes from an old win32dasm pirate!

Jesper Kyd the god himself! Wow. One of my all time favourite musicians. Along with Austin Wintory of course. ;) I still remember his music from the MDK2 days... Borderlands soundtracks were nice too. Assassin's creed, Hitman... and so many more. This guy is amazing.
Austin, is there any way to make these podcasts video podcasts using zoom or something now that zoom is so widely available. Body language is just as important if not more important than the words they communicate with.
