Hundreds of people were in the vicinity of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant the night of the disaster. Each of them has their own story, but few of them have been shared, and our time is limited. Today, we will explore just a few of these stories.

It's really a shame we haven't figured out how to get superpowers from radioactive material yet.

Pro recording tip, buy a dog clicker and hold it while recording voiceover. when you screw up just click it near the mic and the sharp spike will be very visible on the waveform, making it easy to find and cut out later

Great channel with superb insights on the incident. Sorry if I've missed elsewhere, could you make a video on the operation of reactors 1, 2 and 3 post incident? What happened immediately after the incident, i.e. were they shut down, when were they restarted. I've not been able to find this information elsewhere.

There are several audio cuts where the clips haven’t been trimmed properly, it’s really noticeable so I thought I’d give it a mention, you may want to re-edit the video if you can. The entire ending is also cut off.

Very nice and detailed video, do you have any information about two women guards that are also in official first death list. Where were they Ivanenko and Luzganova. Wikipedia says that they were somehow related to Pripyat

Hello there and friendly greetings! Sorry for the incoming text wall but I don't know how else to contact you. I was 16 when the Chornobyl disaster happened and no matter I was in a country relatively far away, I was deeply shocked about what happened. So shocked, in fact, that it became one of my obsessions. I needed to know as much as possible about it, for a number of reasons I don't want to write about here. In time I've learnt quite a lot, lately also thank to your documentaries. I've decided to do something to remember that event; to celebrate the lives of those heroes who sacrified their lives to save a whole continent. The only two ways I could do that were to try to compose some music (Music is my first love of my life) and I am working on it; the second way is to play a very customized version of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly, a port of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call Of Pripyat. OF COURSE I don't mean to disrespect anyone or anything with that. It's one of my ways to remember and, possibly, to spread some awarness. I am a little drop in a vast ocean, I know that, yet I think I have to do my part, one way or another. I started a series of live stream called "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. NUCLEAR WINTER - REMEMBERING CHORNOBYL". Unfortunately, due to IRL priorities, I cannot schedule the streams properly. In the meanwhile, I thank you from the deep of my heart for all the research you have done so far. It is amazing how deep and far you have gone and I hope you will be able to go even deeper and further. I wish you all the best. (BTW, I wrote a very similar message to "The Chornobyl Family", the only other channel I follow about Chornobyl and its history).

@thatchernobylguy2915 his research work is fantastic and very precise and also clarifies several myths and falsehoods about the event. I have a doubt regarding the accident, is it true? The bluish column emanating from the block being radiation ionizing the air? Since in this video you mention a blue-green glow that could be seen that night in a certain sector

Given that the speed of light >> speed of sound, how could the first witness first hear the explosion, then turn around, then see the flash? Unless he saw the 2nd, hydrogen, explosion.

The 2 stories I believed least they happend turned out true, the one with the toxic rain, and the story about the glow. The rain makes a bit of sense, but the glow, the only thing that glows in a reactor are neutrons who are moving faster than light, thats called cherenkov radiation and is a sign of nuclear fission, how can a fission still be happening if the core is destroyed?
@DielectricVideos
@DielectricVideos 17 күн бұрын
Even without fission, there will be plenty of beta particles emitted by the daughter products of the reaction to cause visible Cherenkov radiation. And Cherenkov radiation is mainly the result of charged particles like betas moving faster than light would in the particular medium around them, rather than neutrons.
@TikhonT.
@TikhonT. 17 күн бұрын
@DielectricVideos So, was the glow visible only inside the building or outside of it as well? Many point to a beam of light shooting up in the sky as soon as the reactor exploded, just as many counter this claim and say such a thing never happened.
@MinSredMash
@MinSredMash 16 күн бұрын
It's not Cherenkov radiation but direct ionization of the air, with no breaking the speed of light.
