A legend with stories, fantastic. The Police still inspire me musically after decades

Televised Police performances Giants Stadium 1986 and Grammys 2005. Networks were late rolling cameras because the group sprinted onstage and launched into the first song. 'Message In A Bottle' and 'Roxanne' respectively.

That flight box pic reminds me of the cover photo for Goodbye Cream, and there's a lot of similarities with the bands and the way the both played out

I had a similar flight case experience working stage crew in London Ontario when the Arc Angels played and the rhythm section had their SRV cases. I think we all gently laid a hand on them and spoke to Stevie!

I had that fight case pic as a poster back in the day. You always had the coolest waistcoats.

Synchronicity era: Massive Number 1 multi-platinum album. Number 1 single (EBYT all-time most played song). Other Top 10 singles. Sold out world tour. Grammy Awards. Merchandise sales flying out the window. Cash pouring in like Niagara Falls. Yet no behind the scenes video of the album sessions or of the tour. What happened? Miles Copeland was usually all over this kind of visual detail. Was there simply too much off-stage discord? Did the boys refuse?

There is very little behind the scenes footage of any of their tours or recording sessions., which is a great pity.

Yeah there's not a lot, the best you can do is check out "Everyone Stares" a documentary made of Copeland's home videos during tours and studio time

The picture in the flight case, perhaps the last era before the fight between them became unacceptable, when they couldn't be so close to each other and smiling together anymore.. Before they reach their zenith peak of stardom. A bit sad to think about that.

His "rainbow" jacket was hand made by someone but I can't remember their name. He also had the same jacket in black but only wore it a couple of times.

Yeah, Stewart "ain't no Ringo Starr" because Mister Copeland is a far superior drummer!

Ah come off it, Stew. A boy band you never were, lol.
@thewomble15094 ай бұрын
In the context of the late seventies, early eighties, they definitely played up the sex symbol angle, particularly Sting of course. Musically they were never a boy band as we know them today but they made a hell of a lot of money by creating an image.
