Absolutely love these! Looking forward to hearing more stories about how the album came together

If you grew up in Canada in the 1960s & 1970s believe me you heard a lot of Wayne & Schuster! People in this country could repeat the Julius Caesar sketch by heart.

Back in 2002 when this song was really starting to gain steam here in the States, I was a junior in hs and in the Bay Area they had the ‘Subsonic’ program on Live 105 which was electronic ish instead of the usual alternative rock and me and my friends had a ritual of smoking weed every night when it came on and waiting until they would play this jam and we would go absolutely crazy.

In my opinion, Since I Left You is simply the best Australian album ever made.

Brilliant, I love hearing how these songs came together. You've got a real ear for finding and turning junk into art!

It's not junk, if the music still brings memories to life.

@@kyrauniversal Well that was the band's impression, turning junk into magic, if you listen to Part 2. These are clips of oddities that were scanned for interesting sounds, not from the band's childhood collection. I'm a better critic of film than music, and haven't listened to these records, so I'll take their word for it.

@@thejokerspeaks Not that, I mean as in Someone must ask liked or loved these oddities before it was repurposed.

Most of what you feel when you listen to records like this comes from the borrowed sounds, in an odd way people don't want to admit they'd like the original but when repurposed it's fine. None of it is junk at all really but there is also a bit of genius in combining things that work this well.
@thejokerspeaks2 жыл бұрын
@@NickSBailey The band called them junk records in part 2. Samples from largely spoken words, makes it impossible for us to judge the original recordings ourselves. I agree that I like the repurposed samples, and it is a true talent to combine such things into a piece of music art.

Masterpiece, they'll go down as the best samplers of all time. They accelerated the art form.

Man, i listened to this album so much with my friends, and at the office more than 15 years ago; I had come here to listen it since it had been quite some time and i see this, thank you avalanches 😍

An amazing song that feels like a blurry foggy dreamscape. Honestly kinda like the state I live in. You see old rusted railroad tracks from like 19th century, a 90s looking Hannaford, then Boom, a downeastern train that is definitely 2000s made. An Uncanny Valley hardly able to pull off correctly but you did just that. Oh and also Mental state too.

It's kinda funny that Frank Shuster (of Wayne & Shuster) was the cousin of Joe Shuster, the original illustrator of Superman!
