You know something…I realize that a lot of people seem to have an allergic reaction to Sheikh Yasir Qadhi and his words, and they take his words out of context, but I have to admit that Sheikh Yasir is the main person to bring me back to Islam. Surely that MUST count for SOMETHING, right?..Surely Allah SWT will grant him a great blessing for guiding people like myself and many others to Islam, won’t He?..

I loved the way you showed how the Qur'an stands tall amidst the theory of evolution, and a simple adherence to the Qura'an can supercede theory of evolution with the extra data that we have from the Qur'an. Also It is true to say that the Evengelical defense against the theory has confused many Muslims, including myself. This is a very good lecture, and I am inspired to revisit my evolution and anthropology studies with renewed vigor. JazakAllah.

For all those who are worried about us sharing certain aspects of DNA with other creatures, then I want you to think about this: 1 - Allah SWT says that He created Adam from this earth, did He not? And if so, then wouldn’t it be obvious that we may have SOME things in common with other creatures OF this earth as well? 2 - Is it not possible that Allah SWT used a similar blueprint for our design as He used for other creatures as well so that we may function properly on this earth, and without issue? 3 - We, as humans, also share some DNA with bananas. So, should we then assume that we evolved from bananas as well? 4 - In order for ALL of the creatures of this earth to function normally on this earth, then shouldn’t we all have at least SOME similarities with the other creatures? 5 - One needs to also ask themselves…Is science even CAPABLE of detecting miracles or supernatural events like the method of the creation of man by Allah SWT? It LACKS that ability to do so! Thus, science can only explain a limited amount.

The problem isn’t us sharing dna or “blueprint” with animals it’s that our DNA varies on the relatability based on how close we are. And it’s not only the similarities that we share with apes. It’s also the EXACT errors and scars from viruses are in the exact same areas. If we were truly separate from apes we wouldn’t have these ancient viruses etched in our DNA

1 - Whoever says SubhanAllahi wa biHamdihi (Glory be to Allah and Praise Him) a hundred times during the day, his sins are wiped away, even if they are like the foam of the sea [Sahih al-Bukhari; #7:168, Sahih Muslim; #4:2071] 2 - whoever says SubhanAllahi wa biHamdihi, Subhan-Allahi 'l-`adheem (Glory be to Allah, and Praise, Glory be to Allah, the Supreme) Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Two words are light on the tongue, weigh heavily in the balance, they are loved by the Most Merciful One " [Sahih al-Bukhari; #7:67, Sahih Muslim, #4:2071]

Yup for years i have been reading about these stuff and you are right sheikh, the Quran never said any year or timeline and no where in the Quran Allah said how long is the timeline between Adam, Noah and Ibrahim. So there are a lot of time hole among those Rasol. Most of the people who set a certain time, and years were making their own theory based on Israeliat sources like Christians and Jews. We Muslim dont need to go to the same route.

As Allah subhanahu wa taa'la created Hawa from Adam, It could be possible that He may created one species from other, that's why DNA of one species matches with other. Wallahuaalam... Allah knows best.

The simplest explanation seems to be the most elegant. Adam(a.s.) should have been anatomically identical to homo sapiens, who existed before Adam(a.s.). But Allah gave Adam(a.s.) certain distinctive capabilities like eloquent speech. We believe that homo sapiens, or any other species on Earth, did not have these capabilities at that time. Adam(a.s.), Hawa(a.s.) and their descendants are the "bashar" in the Islamic sense. There is no reason for us to consider "bashar" and homo sapiens to be synonymous. Homo sapiens is a classification done by scientists based on some criteria. That classification need not correspond to "bashar" in Islam. Adam(a.s.) and Hawa(a.s.) might have been later homo sapiens, not the first ones.

Laymans understanding, but; Evolutionarily it would be more like; There is a OOOOO that can breed with other OOOOO's. Then a HOOOO is born that is mutated. HOOOOs and OOOOOs can interbreed. (Anything matching at least 4 letters can). Then a HUOOO is born from two HOOOO parents. It can breed with HUOOOs and HOOOOS but not OOOOOs. Then HUMOO. Same deal. There was a "First male" and "First female" which were HUMAN, but they had a wide stock of HUMAO's to breed with in addition to eachother. This is especially why you find things like homo neanderthalis, a close relative of humans, in the DNA of many people. (In our analogy, a HUMAO gave birth to a HUMAD. A close relative of HUMAN, which can breed with HUMAs.). Currently living humans have common ancestors due to various genetic bottlenecks and family lines dying out a few times, but not every human who ever existed came from two humans in a kind of direct family line per se, even though there were indeed two humans who were the "First", because obviously there had to be. What you'd probably instead see is the first two humans don't even breed with eachother since they are siblings, but other homo species, and their children probably do the same, gradually shifting the pre-existing homo population. The "HUMAO" was Homo Erectus, our direct ancestor. Homo sapiens can breed with them, homo neanderthalis (our brother/sister species), and homo habilis. The other "Homo" species have either been genetically absorbed, or wiped out. Homo erectus was about as intelligent as a pre-teen human at its peak. Remarkable for an animal, recognizably something we'd consider human-esque. But the freak "And now the brain development never stops" gene is significant enough that we mark "Homo sapiens" as distinct. Homo erectus would have been able to breed with something less recognizably human which homo sapiens couldn't, all the way back to something which can breed with what we'd more readily recognize as a chimpanzee. If Homo Erectus were around today, with their strange skull shapes and what we as humans would call "Mental disability" despite them being the smartest animals other than us, we could in fact breed with them. The kid might be a homo sapiens, might be a homo erectus, but we could do it. If you like the Garden of adam and eve as a story but get confused by "So wait. Abel went somewhere and married someone? Who?", you could interpret it as; "Adam and Eve are the first homo sapiens. Abel went and married another species of Homo, who were sophisticated enough to have names after all, and evidence points to being monogamous. He had children which were variably Homo Sapiens, and the species of the mother, who repeated the process until there's enough homo sapiens distantly related to eachother to breed.".
