That is so cool and he has always struck me as a regular guy. Just like the time my wife and I got to meet Shelley Duvall at advanced screening of her art film, "Twilight of the Ice Nymphs." There was question and answer after the movie. And then we got to talk to her personally in the theater lobby later. (It was Dallas, Texas and we were having one of those torrential spring storms. So, better to wait until the rain slows down to one bucket per hour.)

I was an extra in one of his movies. We were told as extras, not to bother him. He showed up on set and immediately started talking to individuals including, at one point me. He was kind and very down to earth. Kevin is a genuinely kind and intelligent person.

Don't worry he has already been "rejected" its why the "God's Not Dead" movies have done so poorly. The first one was with Sorbo himself playing the snide, cynical and cruel "Athiest Professor who is mad at God which is why he isnt REALLY an Athiest". The second movie was about a teacher who happened to mention The Bible in the context of a school lesson NOT like she was trying to convert students and suddenly the evil Athiests and the ACLU are trying to destroy her life in a powerful, dark conspiracy. In fact after the first one I decided that I wasn't gonna get the 2nd one a chance so thank you for letting me know about it so I don't waste my time. That being said I am a Christian man and I do think that they had tunnel vision when making those movies and as a result we got what we got sadly. To get back on topic however, I never mentioned any movies that he was in, I just thought that phrase was a good one to live by...Atheist, Christian, Buddhist, Agnostic, whatever. ^^ (I will double down on saying both movies you mentioned had some poor writing lol)

He told this story at an event I went to years ago, when he was trying out for the part of Hercules, they asked him to remove his shirt, he understood and complied. They then made some comments to each other and one of the people walked over and pulled him aside to ask if he minded shaving his chest for the part. He replied, "Oh, I thought you wanted a man to play the part." Absolutely stands by who he is. 100%

I grew up on portrayals by Lou Ferrigno, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Mark Forest. Sorbo was a significant departure from the "brawny" portrayals of those actors. I was pretty critical of it at first. By the second season, though, he'd grown on me. Certainly is the most popular portrayal.

Good to hear - he seems like a good guy. There are a few of them in Hollyweird. I worked with Tom Selleck on a photo shoot in the late 90s at his ranch in CA. We finished the shoot and everyone on the crew was gone except me and another assistant as we were left wrapping equipment. Mr Selleck walks over to us and ask if we'd like a beer. "Sure!", we said. I figured he'd have a maid or someone bring a beer out to us. Nope - he walks into the house and comes out with 3 bottles and sits down and BS's with us for about 30 minutes! Just a genuine, down to earth nice guy without a lick of pretense. And conservative.

I was a little kid and at a Lakers game back when they played at the great western forum, and I remember I was a huge fan of hercules and during halftime or between periods, I was going to the bathroom or get some food, but before that I went to the tunnel where players came out, but saw Kevin sitting in a seat watching the game, so I went to him and he signed my lakers program and I remember as a kid I was so excited to meet him but nervous at the same time with some encouragement and prompting from my dad (RIP), he was really nice from what I remember!

My best friend is a huge fan of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, and he even got to meet Kevin at Mississippi Comic Con this year...but when I heard how my friend hated his politics and conservatives like him and me in general, it made me sad to know that my friend completely buys into the hypocrisy of the "tolerant" left. I never will, and I praise Sorbo for sticking to his guns and following his faith and doing as Jefferson said: question with boldness, hold to the truth, and speak without fear. I hope my friend will see how his fear of offending is ironically offending others. God bless us all.

Outside of evangelical right-wingers Kevin Sorbo is only known for playing Hercules in a TV show that only had 2 of the 6 seasons come out on DVD whereas the spin-off Xena had all it's seasons come out on DVD because it was a far greater success. As for movies he was in... well either they were straight to video (as in no theater release) or aimed at a very limited group of bible thumpers and there for utterly unknown or ignored. In short, outside a very small circle of people Kevin Sorbo is a has been. His name has no recognition and his face might be faintly familiar to some of us that are 40 or older because of an old TV show that had a very limited and brief success almost 3 decades ago.

By the way, ever heard of 'independent' movie makers? Or ever heard about movies made by Netflix, HBO and all kinds of other entities outside of the major Hollywood based studios? The fact remains that Kevin is not talented and except of reprising his Hercules role in Xena hasn't done anything that actually got any attention from the general public. Heck, Lucy Lawless has had more prominent exposure the last 2 decades and she's not American and as a woman it's double as hard to keep an acting career going once you past your 30's.

I can say with absolute certainty that Kevin's "success" doesn't register on Hollywood's radar. Kevin's activity since Hercules and Andromeda has been spotty (non-recurring TV roles often playing off his Hercules fame) or niche (direct to video or Christian) at best. I'm 26 and know who Anthony Quinn was. I did used to watch old movies and TV shows, and grew up watching Hercules and Xena as a child though. I think many people today under the age of, say 30/35, are too absorbed with the mindless garbage they see today and perhaps don't even have the capacity to watch something that isn't stupid comedy or an action movie with some kind of action every 2 seconds. It's pretty sad that they think the actors of today are better than the old ones, some of which were even Shakespearian trained actors.
