Chuck you keep growing as an artist...your motivation...determination...drive and desire to keep learning is motivational...all artists need to learn from you...not painting nor composition....brushwork...your drive to keep learning...God bless you Chuck...have been watching you from day one... And...I enjoy the new format of your videos with voice over...you've even grown as a film producer...editing and so on...I know it also takes alot of time and work to post a video. You deserve all the support and more. Bless you At 1:51 lol I was going to watch the video then comment again...but you said it ...I thought it as you said you used one brush...then...you say what's exactly a great learning experience...there's no special brush...its all from the knowledge...time put in and learning from each piece. The color mixing is just wonderful...mixing color ...and what it appears on canvas from the artist is what makes each artist unique and stand out. Beautiful greys...Chuck...just great work.

I'm wondering why under painting is necessary? I would like to learn to paint, but everyone seems to say something different, and that make's it difficult to know what to use, and how to do it! I have always been artistic but painting is something my father was great at, but he passed away so I can't learn from him!

This right here is what makes me try. I'm only just beginning and I have much to learn and far to go but this kind of thing right here, this amazing, beautiful piece of art keeps me going and motivated to learn and improve myself. My goal is to be able to make art that makes someone go, "Wow, that was created by a human? Amazing." Because this right here made me say that. Truly stunningly beautiful.

You'll be better off learning watching Bob Ross as Bob Ross doesn't Trace out the picture on the canvas
@lucygray6162
@lucygray6162 4 жыл бұрын
@@AngryGnome87 Bob was a lovely guy and reached a lot of happy people, but his "art to hang over the couch" was never meant to help others progress to the upper levels of art. It was entertainment, and allowed hobby painters to make a pretty picture for their home by copying him. Most fine artists are required to master drawing first so their painting has a firm foundation. For those of us not superbly gifted like Chuck, it can take years to reach that level, and those years should be looked at as a learning experience, not a chore.
@James.99

@@lucygray6162 I have to disagree. Bob Ross is a great starting point for learning about perspective and composition. I started out painting like Bob Ross and (thanks to the internet) within a year I was already in Michael James Smith territory, painting my "Lassen Peak Masterpiece" on a little 12x12canvas from a reference photo...lol. My next goal is to paint bigger, at least 18x24 from now on.

I'm confident I can draw/paint anything, except clouds! I have always struggled witb clouds. The issue comes in when I try to paint a cloud from a reference. It's a nightmare, but if you just randomly dump paint on and use certain brushes you can make really nice, super real looking freestyle clouds.

In searching for ideas for a storm cloud painting, I ran into this video. Absolutely astounding. But, the biggest thing I got out of it was the patience you have. I am so used to trying to blast through the majority of a painting in 3-4 hours (maybe hoping for happy accidents) and not being satisfied with the result. I really need to slow down and develop the patience to make each piece I do the very best of my capability. I am blown away with the realness that your paintings have. Just ASTOUNDING! I am from Montana so I know all about the amazing storms that role through the valleys. I am familiar with the Utah desert as well. This is just jaw-dropping perfection! Been following you for over a year and your paintings just have gotten better. It's wonderful to see. You are an inspiration to me too as a new artist. Thank you SOOO much ! This is GORGEOUS!
