Storm Corrosion, Porcupine Tree, and Opeth all have at least one thing in common. They make music that is difficult to take in and process in one or two listens. I didn’t care for Heritage when it first came out, and it never fully clicked with me until I went back and listened to it after Pale Communion came out. I also think if Sorceress had come after Watershed the transition to 100% prog would have been easier for most people to take.

Very true. Every newer album that Opeth has come out with I didn't really like at first, but as time goes on and with each listen I start to realize how genius they are! Especially with Fredrik's guitar playing, it's unbelievable!

Yep.. I do like a lot of the ambient material on many of the tracks. I mean, the last track on this album "The Sound Before (in Swedish)" is just... orgasmic. But... it's all ambient, the whole album, just 100% ambient, lol.

Very true. My expectations would have been better suited if I had been warned of how much of a departure it would be from their usual work. I'm used to experimental departures from Wilson, but this was a bit of a stretch from the side of Mikael's usual fare.

Wilson has had some other bands in that area, have you listened to Bass-Communion? That's Wilson's main ambient project, this just has a slightly.. darker feel to it le Opeth style. Anywho, indeed they could've advertised this one better xD

I think you'll find that only Mikael's voice is in the left channel. Steve goes through both channels. Still, odd (and annoying) that they chose to make it that way.
