I'm a Sinfonian down here at the Beta Delta chapter in Pitt. I got to sing a show with Storm Front as the head-lining Quartet in October 2011. In the Afterglow, we all sang some songs from the red book! What FUN! OAS AAS LLS!

@nwmusic06 Representing the Beta Delta chapter out of Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas(Go-rillas), it's always nice to see Sinfonians getting recognition, and advancing music in America. OAS, AAS, LLS! Congratulations, Storm Front, for one heck of a performance to win the gold! SLIBFS!

It's hard to believe a guy like Jeff used to sing BASS.

Check out the version posted by quadravox (titled Storm Front Singing Anything Goes). The audience is the SOTR chapter, so they were all familiar with the number and there isn't the raucous laughter heard in this version. Makes the lyrics MUCH easier to understand.

@yomega69 They were making fun of Gotcha, the 2004 quartet champions. They were known for dragging their ballads out and for having a powerful, but sometimes shouty Lead Chris Vaughn.

@workitworkman It's funny you say that, because I'm the music director at Upsilon Chi and about 8 guys including myself drive to KC once a week from Maryville to go to chorus practice. We sure are proud of our Northwest Alums!

@bevster1 Well how familiar are you with previous BHS quartet champions, and American barbershop culture in general? That could explain some things, since this whole song is mostly about poking fun at the culture and other well-known groups.

anyone know who called out after the Gotcha gag? ("I hate Chris Vaughn" I think) guessing it was actually Chris Vaughn

Anyone able to provide some context for whom they're poking fun at? I saw the Gotcha! comment, so I get that one, but what's with the "that's barbershop!" gag, and I'm unclear on the vowel-matching bit (I understand, obviously, why it's /important,/ but was there some event/incident that made it worthwhile to put in here?). Thanks!

It took these guys a while to make it to the top (see their video "We've Grown Accustomed to Third Place"), and they're poking fun at some of their competitors, and some of the developments in the style, along the way (the "Good Vibrations" bit refers to a performance by Vocal Spectrum with Tim Waurick clowning around on the high notes, as only Tim Waurick can). And of course, it's a perennial question: what exactly is Barbershop, anyway? I suspect there are as many different opinions as the Society has members.

This looks really good, but would someone please post the lyrics? I can't make out half of what they say, and the laugher (deserved!) drowns out a lot of the punchlines. Thanks!

So the bass goes falsetto at the end? Does he slide up or down? I feel like the baritone probably moves down. The bass does falsetto on we've grown accustomed to 3rd place, too. Is that a thing Storm Front does a lot? I don't know much about them.

I think they're's something wrong with me - I don't find much of this funny at all even when so many of the audience are laughing - except 6:17 haha. I'm english, I think that explains it

They're all barbershop related jokes (except for the one about Sinatra). If you're not familiar with a lot of past quartet champions and stuff, it might not make sense.
