Storm HyRoad Max - 10 Frame High Speed/Rev Ball Review!

Hey everyone! Hope you’re all well!
This one has been a long time in the making! I had this ball before it came out, and knew immediately, it was a good one!
This is shot and commentated from a high speed/Rev perspective. And, is a non-staff review, designed and shot to give you an honest opinion about what the ball is and how it works!

Late to the party here but wanted to see the NEX on couple differnt balls. I got a Super Nova recently, love it for as long as I can use it, 1st game, maybe 2nd once in awhile. This H Max already gone so I've ordered the Marvel Maxx Tour overseas. My home lanes have ditry back ends causing alot of over under. NEX just blends the bad away on the S Nova. I've wanted to try the centripetal core (non C3 version) for a bit as well, 2 birds one stone lol

I think being a 2 piece ball with just a weight block & coverstock without any outer core material really helps with the hit. I just drilled a hy-road pearl. Its my first hy-road ball and I'm really impressed by the way it goes through the pins and carries. Fantastic performance from a thunder line ball.

@@thefreeagentbowler4383 yeah. My hy-road pearl has bailed me out a couple times since i drilled it last week. Really makes me consider getting a stronger hy-road ball I can use earlier in the block. This would be perfect

Agreed. 2 piece balls seem to hit better. Of course all new balls hit great, because their performance is at their peak and it's a downhill from there.

I just purchased this ball on Saturday and took it out for a spin on Sunday. After a 21 year absence from bowling, I hit a 171 average after 5 games. It's an incredible ball and hoping to get into the high 190s with some practice.

Honestly, I find this to be more aggressive polished. OOB finish is much smoother, for sure!

Yeah, been offered several. I keep saying no, because it locks me in to a brand that may not be the best for me. I would listen, but, it would take something really special to get me locked in.

Pit I haven’t in a while honestly. I’m a High School baseball and golf coach, and my daughter is a competitive softballer, so weekends get eaten up pretty quick. When I was bowling consistently, I did frequently cash. Planning on doing more of that this year, though.

I’ve found that too. Seems to be a love or hate type of thing with this ball, much like the all road. I hated that one. This one is pretty damned good!

I LOVED this ball with hand sanded out of box finish. After watching your video, I polished it and holy $h*t did it make it even better😳🙌🙌🙌. Thank you for doing reviews. Just acquired the Max. Been out of bowling for 25 years it is so sweet to be back on the lanes. First night of league I shot a 618 series. In my book not to bad for this 66 year old bowler. I enjoyed your info on the Max as well as the Incite so I just had to get both balls. Haven't really used the Incite much yet even in open bowling. The max has been so good so far. I love all the bowling reviews, in the old days I bought balls because the picture and stats looked cool, my bag was okay, it wasn't a terrible way to set up my bag, I did run into issues on short oil patterns or broken patters but on my home lanes, I was "good" bowlers ranging from 170-190 average. Today I have all the stats and videos of people throwing them, my bag is so much better than it ever was before. Thank you for all your reviews. I also can't imagine how much overhead this channel costs, I hope you can resale the balls you don't like or use. I'd go broke trying to buy all those balls.

It isn’t cheap, that’s for sure! I’m going to be bringing some things forward here soon to help fund the channel or at least offset some of the costs. Because it is quite pricey!

Thinking about DV8 HELLRAISER RETURN OR PARELAX EFFECT...what are your thoughts...same release as you 15-16 mph

I haven’t thrown the Hellraiser, but every person I’ve seen throwing it - it looks freaking rad! The Paralax Effect is a good one though. A bit smoother than I expected initially, but, very balanced in its roll and not too quick off the spot.

I am going to shoot a retro review at some point, with that ball. I have that ball (several of them actually) and absolutely love it! This one isn’t as forgiving as that ball, and doesn’t hit as hard. But, it’s very, very good.

I was able to get my hands on a DV8 poison, NIB. I am looking forward to drilling it and destroying some pins. I got one when they first came out but a fellow bowling fell in love with it before I drilled it. He offered more money then I payed for it, so I sold it and spent the extra money on a tournament!!

I only wish they used a dark color for this ball. I don't know why but I just really like dark colored balls that are solid or have a subtle swirl of dark colors for my early arcing "benchmark" ball.

Yeah, I’ve had a couple of people say that. But, when it’s as good as this is for me, it could be pink or really any color, and I’d throw it. It’s great!

I keep my Hyroad Max maintained at a 500/3000 grit finish (wet hand sanded with Tru Cut pads) after every 12 -18 games

@@thefreeagentbowler4383 I've notice the same I keep it sanded with the 500 and 3000 grit pads to keep the reaction smooth and keep it from getting too snappy down lane. When it lane shines it gets too close to my OG Hyroad.

Troy Trujillo - I’m not sure, exactly. But, it’s definitely different than it has been. It’s a much tougher shot. Been finding outside is pretty much dead, and it’s forcing you inside and to play tighter angles.

Dylan Burton left a few 10’s in this video, but, at the high end of this house, carry is tough. The lanes are only a year old or so. So, it’s a little weird on that side.

The problem for me with the big cover/high RG symmetrics has always been them using up too much energy making their motion and not having enough left at the pins. However, I must say this one looks fantastic. Do you think it would work equally well for a low speed/high rev player, or would you go for something with a cleaner cover like the Fatal Venom?

Depending on what you bowl on, I think this works for everyone. There’s a lot of staffers I know who are female who have that lower speed/Rev profile and this thing is ridiculously good for them too. It’s a special piece!

Mmmmm storm, I've never bought a storm ball, I've seen too many controllability issues with some of their older balls, and I got scared away. I was ebonite and today it's mostly Brunswick because I like the controllability of the balls, they roll really well. Storm balls roll far more than I enjoy.

It may be time to try one! Storm definitely has more reaction and kind of their own reaction, compared to other brands. But, I think this one is controllable enough that anyone could use. Drill it weaker, and it could be interesting! A short pin a la Mo Pinel, could be fantastic!

Subscribe since you're in Aurora. I just bowled last night for the first time at Arapahoe Bowling Center last night. I'm new to bowling leagues etc. So shot my highest game ever in a 225 there. So I'm definitely pleased with that center. I was talking to the pro shop guy after I was done I have a entry level brunswick rhino and was wondering what would be a good next ball and he suggested the hy road max, incite and I think the Rubicon uc2. What do you think

The Ribucon UC2 I hear really good things about. I’ve never thrown it, however. I LOVE the Incite and the HyRoad Max. The Max is a really strong ball, and incite is a bit smoother and more useable. Both are great though. I think I’d go Incite, honestly.
