Never ever saw clouds that colorful when I was younger! Only the past fifteen maybe twenty years, or maybe I just wasn't paying attention.

Mate they are Nacreous clouds. You hardly ever get them here, thats why you haven't seen them. Plus it depends on the sky being clear meaning even if they are there you won't see them if its cloudy.
