I understand they are supposed to be anchored down into something underground. What is going to keep ground water from pushing this right back on top of the yard? I didn't see any kind of a rock or concrete base. The shelters themselves could be fine, but the installation I would be concerned about.

We extend the floor out an extra two feet front and rear to prevent any floating. It has worked quite well for us. Thx!

I just like point out to all people installing these to please keep some sort of high capacity jack in there even chain saw electric chain saw,so to be able to egress urself shoul ssf something block door,dont count on fema

If I got one it would be the 2 exit one and I would still have some method in case exits got blocked and I would have communication and electricity/w battery...just in case😅 I don't want to be freaking out down there🤣

We do offer an emergency door jack as an option. One customer had a neat and cheap idea. He was going to keep an aerosol boat horn inside and fire it up in the turbine vent if trapped.

I'm in South East Missouri right in the middle of the "New" tornado alley and even our regular storms are getting more violent. I'm on a sand hill. How well would one of these stay in the sandy ground? I'm serious about getting something because like I said, our "normal" storms aren't normal any more.

Yep, tornado alley has shifted more our way. We've put them in all kinds of soil. Red clay to Daytona Beach sand. No problems. We extend the floor out two feet front and rear to prevent floating. Sand won't hold water to build up pressure either under the shelter. Thanks!, Jim

Never build a shelter right next to your house like they did on this video because if your house collapses in a tornado or storm the weight of the house debris will prevent you from opening your shelter door and if no one finds you for weeks you will die from starvation or lack of air blocked by the debris.
