That looked so fun to airbrush-I MUST get an airbrush!! I should probably invest in an electric trimmer too, it takes so long trimming an entire doll with just scissors. lol Thank you for sharing this I really enjoyed watching it. (:

I suggest the Crayola airbrush. Its cheap and no batteries required. You might have to seal the marker though due to it not being waterproof. But I'm sure it wouldn't be too much more to invest in Crayola fabric markers.

Another amazing creature! I would like to make a request for the next video. I would like to see more airbrushing and I would like to see a little bit of how you make your wire armatures. I already know how to make my own armatures, but I want to see how you make more complex body shapes (wings or multiple heads).

Thank you!! I plan on making a thunderbird from fantastic beasts and that has many wings, I'll make sure to record the armature process for that one ^-^

How soft and pettable is the fur after airbrushing? Especially after like three layers?
@KaypeaCreations8 жыл бұрын
Droemar depends on what colors you are using and how heavy your adding the paint onto the fur. if you comb out after each pass the fur will remain soft. in this video I did very heavy airbrushing so I knew it wasn't going to be a soft doll specially with painted on details which is why I name this one more of a display piece rather then a cuddle one :)

Yay, a video on posable animal making! :D I struggle to find good videos that show the process of making them, so I'm really happy to find a detailed video like this, thank you for making it :) It's incredibly helpful! :D He's one beautiful doll! May I ask where you buy the paints that you used with the airbrush from? (I hope that sentence makes sense xD) I'm beginning to feel confident enough in making my own that I'd like to look into buying a suitable airbrush and paint so that I'm not limited to the colours of faux fur that I can buy. :) I don't think I'll be selling mine for a looooong time though XD I'm not this good hahaha XD

Does art brushing the fur compromise the softness or texture? Would the paint make it sticky? Is the color water resistant? Sorry for the questions. I’ve been interested in making art dolls for a while but I want to gather info first 😅💕
@KaypeaCreations6 жыл бұрын
As long as the layers are light it won’t get stiff or sticky however the more you add the more you will need to brush out. It should always stay away from water

Your creature are some of the most beautiful I've seen! I'm trying to make my very first art doll but i'm having so much trouble with the airbrush. I'm using a mini compressor and i'm hardly getting any spray at all. Do you thinks its best to buy a larger compressor for painting art dolls?
@KaypeaCreations7 жыл бұрын
+ladyofthewilds I started out with a cheap 40$ mini compressor and I know the struggle. It's not the best thing for this but if it's all you can afford it's doable for small designs. If you're trying to paint a whole doll like in this video I'd suggest getting a more powerful compressor

@KaypeaCreations7 жыл бұрын
+Emily Crafts the eyes in this video were just rolled pieces of clay! I get my fur from fabricempire.com. for sewing I just use a basic stitch and a ladder stitch to join the leg fabric to the body fabric. Uhmmm...I think this one was 2 ft long including the tail!
@RavicaArt7 жыл бұрын
I read below that you use airbrush colors - do you somehow seal them in afterwards? Do they rub off when you handle the creature? ty
@KaypeaCreations7 жыл бұрын

This is absolutely fantastic but I gotta ask, have you ever thought about using resin eyes? You can get some really nice detailed ones that can go into the oven I think P:
@KaypeaCreations8 жыл бұрын
I have! In all honesty I'm always just to impatient to wait for eyes to get here lol I need to buy a bunch that I like in advance and then pick out the ones I like for whatever sculpture I'm making! Which I think I'll actually do now :x
@CraftyMaelyss8 жыл бұрын
KaypeaCreations I would definitely recommend stocking up when buying online :) I actually found some really nice ones on Ebay that I'm planning to start using from now on. I haven't tried using Sxulpty yet or any type of clay(I basically use just fabric) but I'm hoping that'll change soon :)
@tigerwalton5458 жыл бұрын
One thing I've found that works really well is getting glass dome cabochons in a bunch of different sizes, then painting eyes onto paper, then using something like diamond glaze to glue the cabs over that. They hold up great when baking, and they magnify a little bit, to bring out the details. Plus, it would be completely unique to your piece.
@CraftyMaelyss8 жыл бұрын
C Walton I've been trying to find some large glass domes but I haven't had any luck. Do you buy yours online or in store? P: Originally I wanted to learn how to use resin to make eyes for the art dolls I make but it'd be more convenient if I could use glass domes though I can't find any really large ones P:
