A great idea. The huge range of rules now and the museum quality figures and terrain online must make it more daunting to start in the hobby, compared to back in the '70s. When I started with Charles Grant's rules, his photos showed gear that looked good but also achievable for a beginner. - Hadn't heard of the Compendium either so I'll have to find a copy.

Yep, it's a completely different world these days and hard to navigate for newbies. Check it out, it's a great book even for old sweats.

I've never played but have watched many online replays. Have you seen a side do something so well that it won the battle? The replays I've seen show highlights of very bad or great dice rolls but I have not seen a brilliant maneuver demonstrated. I would think many would enjoy seeing game moments of tactical genius.

The firing dice rolls are the result of manoeuvre, getting yourself into the best position to cause cause maximum damage is what manoeuvre is all about.
