Primates are the only types of animals who almost never abandon their babies even if they are born with birth defects or develop them later on. This is why you will see many primates with children who are, sometimes, even blind. But of course there are those who cannot handle the responsibility, and you see that in humans as well. I forget who said this exactly, but 90% of what we attribute to being human behavior, is actually just primate behavior.

It seems that maybe Stormy has one of those extremely loving, caring, sweet and devoted moms that maybe wants to skip mating season to devote more time to Stormy. Bc the more I watch your videos and Arroz's channel, the more I learn and see their behavior. Thank you for sharing your beautiful country and these monkeys with us!

I worry about Stormy’s higher care needs as he grows bigger and heavier. It won’t be as easy to carry him around. He and his mum will need considerably more help. If not for human feeders, he would have a difficult time being able to forage enough food to thrive.

He's such a cutie now, but quite what the future holds for him and his welfare is another story.I don't know enough about disabled monkeys and if they can be an active member of a troupe, so very happy to learn if anyone can provide this education? We’ve seen several monkeys with disabilities that get around quite well and I can’t help but think that if Stormy had the use of even one of his back legs it would be so much easier for him. I keep praying that he might gain some movement in one or both of his legs that could help him get around easier.🙏

He has some movement in his legs, especially the right leg. Look @9:34 where he actually moves it. Also around the 9:30 and on mark, he has his legs, but mainly the right leg, bent while resting it. If he had complete paralysis his legs would mainly lay out straight or be completely limp. I think the movement he does have is in the upper part of his legs but it’s mainly the right leg. This can get better over time. I myself have paralysis in my right leg but it was a full 2 years after my electrocution accident that my leg finally stopped getting stronger and improving. After that 2 years I just concentrated on keeping the gains I made. So this little guy could gain more strength and use of his legs. I hope he does anyway.

The mom gives up so much taking care of the little sack of garbage. Obviously, the regular monkeys keep their distance from the little runt therefore the mom as well. She also loses food opportunities because the time is given to the little goblin. I wonder if there is a chance the mom will begin stranding it? On the other hand, the mom isn't exactly in great health; ostracism may be the future of the mom either way.

I am surprised he has made it this long. I really worry about him as mom gets ready to start weening him. He can’t get to the food as quickly or as easily and really has to go where mom goes for protection. I worry about him up in the trees. He can’t situate himself as well not having the use of his legs. It’s all so scary but I am praying for the little guy he sure is a fighter❤️❤️❤️

JW, I'm very concerned about Stormy. Yes, the sores on his legs looked rather good BUT those on his backside don't look so good. Is there not a way for a Vet to see if something could done to help him. He is a beautiful baby monkey and full of life. How will he make it later in life. You do realize that stormy won't live for long I hope, once mom has another baby and devotes her time to it stormy will have to fend for herself and with no use of her legs she won't be able to keep up with the Troup and will probably end up starvingv to death and will develop numerous haskins issues.

Humans eat 3 times a day and snack in between meals. Monkeys tend to eat just enough to be well, you don’t see overweight/obesity issues in this species. Can’t say the same for humans.
