Hi Earl, If you don't find a Pearl 6" tom I can build a fiberglass shell for you. You would just have to send me the Pearl lugs and the mount that you want. I can make any size from 6" to 30" fiberglass shells.

How about I build you a 6?. But it would be a maple Keller shell. 4 lugs. Hoop. Probably could do it for the cost of goods. About $100.

Thanks for the offer Jim! I’m on the hunt for the Pearl fiberglass shell now! I asked Jenkins and Martin fiberglass drums and they didn’t even quote a price for their 6” shell! They just said we don’t make Pearl fiberglass shells … but that seemed kinda rude to me … so guess it’s a no! But I appreciate the offer my friend!

Nice kit! Never played a concert tom kit. Would this work better with progressive music? They fell out of favor for awhile but they seem to be making a comeback!

why even bother with RIMS mounts on a concert tom set? There is no reason to try and get even more "resonance." LOL!

Hi Tom, great question. I’ll go deeper on my Ask Earl Anything show in August. Short answer … I use RIM mounts to make it easier to mount concert toms at angles I enjoy playing them at. It’s about my ergonomic drum setup. I could drill more holes? But I choose RIMS mounts … but not for resonance! I hope that helps!

Looks quit different without the wraps. I bought my Pearl fiberglass concert tom set in 1979. Mine are black. Haven't used in a band for many years but am thinking of bringing them back out. I have a large set 6", 8", 10", 12", 14", 15" with 16" and 18" floor toms. I added bottom heads to the 14 and 15 with I prefer. Also have two 22" bass drums.

Jody that’s a great kit you have! My original plan for the kit was to make all the drums double headed and have a Steve Gadd kit. The original drums were white wrap. The problem was the wrap was ripping off the shell from the first day I owned them. Making the fiberglass only a decision for the short term until I had them painted … then 10 years went by and I decided to play them as they are … I think they sound great …. I have all the tom sizes now including the 6” and an 16x18 floor tom! I guess I should buy a fiberglass bass drum, but I like my old beat up 14x22 Gretsch! Thanks for watching!

I have always used Evans hydraulic blues on the drums giving them a nice deep sound. The wraps on mine have held up well over the years. They have been used heavily. I live in Wisconsin and love these for holding their tune in extreme temperature change. @@earldrum
