Story of a Mujahid Who Returned Home - Shaykh Khalid al-Rashid

Beautiful story of a mujahid who returned home from a battle and was so occupied in worship that he momentarily forget everything else.

Ibn al-Mubarak narrated in "al-Zuhd" from a servant of Abu Rayhana: "(One day) Abu Rayhana returned from a military expedition. When arrived, he approached his family and ate dinner with them Then he called for a container to do wudhu'. Then he went to the prayer area in his house and prayed, reading one surah after another. He remained in that state; whenever he finished a surah, he began another Until the muadhdhin made the call for
Fajr prayer and he put on his (outside) clothes.
So his wife approached him and said, 'O Abu Rayhana! Verily you went into battle and became tired. Then you came to me and
I had no time with you!' He said, 'Yes by Allah!' 'You weren't on my mind, and if I had remembered you, you would have had a right over me.' She said, 'Then what distracted you from us, O Abu Rayhana?' He said, 'My heart continues to desire what Allah described in His Heaven from its clothes, wives, bounty, and
pleasure, until I heard the muadhdhin.'"
Allahu Akbar! When the people (the Salaf) heard the statement of Allah(swt), "Race to good deeds" (2:148) And His statement,"Race toward forgiveness from your Lord and a Garden whose width is
like the width of the heaven and earth" (57:21), they understood that what is meant by that is that each one is try his best and do better than the others to reach this exulted status. al-Hasan said, "If you see a man competing against you for this world, then compete against him for the hereafter." And he said, "Whoever competes against you for religion, then compete. And whoever
competes against you for this world, throw it back at them (don't compete).
Know this, may Allah(swt) protect you
