Story Time: Brazil kicked our butts

You may be wondering why we didn't make a travel video out of our trip to Brazil. The short answer is that we got food poisoning, then covid, and THEN mugged at gunpoint. Also, Sarge got into a dogfight when we picked him up from Florida on the way home. You can't win them all, I guess.

I live in Brasil and i can say, that's not just because of covid and the economic situation. This is usual Brasil day to day routine, but you guys should've listen to the warning of your friend and other saying that you shouldn't be on your phone all the time in here, specialy at night, this is like a beacon for robers, here is dangerous in certain states/places, but if you just take care and be aware of your sorroundings you'll have a great time in Brasil. Hope you guys have better luck next time you decided to come. wish you two the best.

Well well as a fellow Brazilian i never got mugged since i live in a safe city. Rio de Janeiro is actually the WORST CITY. There was a crowd assaulting everyone at years eve and 4 people were stabbed on the beach in copacabana

I was born in Brazil. I live in south Florida (close to Vero Beach) Every time I go visit extended family they always warn me about the crime and tell me how dangerous it is there. I’m glad you guys made it home safe. 🇧🇷💛💚💙 Glad the puppy is safe too

I'd heard Andres mentioning about your trip to Brazil during his twitchs several times before you two actually traveled there, It's always interesting and refreshing to know traveling tips and stories during covid times and all those plane trips and road trips from different countries ;)), you two did great when being in difficult and dangerous situations, and I'm glad it doesn't stop your passions of adventures, most important of it all, you and Andres came back home safely and loaded with joyful memories, I've been one of your fans even before you met Andres, so it's nice to see your romantic relationship with him growing strong and steady along the time, and Sergeant too ^^. As much as I want to share your optimism at the end of the video: even with Covid slowly fading out I don't think traveling is a good idea at the moment - or in the near future. The world is spiraling in crisis mode and it's going to get a lot worse before it's finally going to get better. In the meantime: stay safe ❤️

The more dogs you get together, the lower their collective IQ gets, while their pack instincts start kicking into overdrive & there’s lots of jockeying for hierarchical position. (Probably applies to people as well 🤔) A bunch of yipping smaller dogs is just like adding kindling to a fire, hyping up the energy levels

Going on trips in these uncertain times is a bad idea but I get that it's hard for young people to stay home for two years. My son is leaving for a snowboarding trip to Austria tomorrow. I live in Brazil (but I live in the continental states, not the coast) and I had never had any problem at all. Ps. I actually travel a lot here inside Brazil. But I admit that Gringos have a higher chance of being chosen by the criminals. Either way I wish you the best and hope everything turned out well

My boyfriend is Brazilian lives in São Paulo. I visited last year. He always told me to not flash my wealth outside. And keep my phone in my pocket outside especially in the dark. We love Balneário Camboriú City. Hope you get to go back to Brazil. I’m retiring there this year.

Some corrections guys: Brazil´s economy is not reliant on tourism; tourism is just a small part of the income. Brazil´s economy is very diverse, based mainly on the service sector, industries and exportation of commodities, as it is ranked 10th largest economy of the world. Brazil doesn´t boil down to Rio de Janeiro; there are many towns and cities that are as safe as any town in the USA for example. I live in the south of Brazil, and have never seen or experienced anything like what you have stated here; It´s more likely to happen in big cities like SP or RJ, but not everywhere else

Next time I suggest you guys hire a tourist guide or agency to take you safely to places and with a known vehicle. It can be a bit more money, but you will enjoy it more plus you go in a group, etc..it's a good way to have a more secure visit. Wow, I will not go to Brasil anytime soon!

Scary stuff! I'm glad you're both safe and recovered from Covid. I've traveled extensively and am pretty fearless about it. The only place I've ever felt unsafe was Brazil. I spent ten days there in February 2008 and will never go back. It's not just poverty-driven opportunistic crime that you have to worry about; the entire country, from the presidency down to the local police department, is corrupt. Systemic corruption breeds instability and perpetuates poverty. What you experienced last month were the same things I was warned about (and saw) 14 years ago -- nothing has changed.

Yeah, Brazil is beautiful but is not the paradise and definitely not only the ''samba, summer, soccer and parties'' everyone thinks it is in the USA, Canada or nothern Europe. And with the last elections the country got more divided. Brasil can be really dangerous. But of course, not every region or location is that dangerous, Brazil is a very large and diverse country. I'm portguese and I live in Portugal and I've noticed a new wave of brasilians emigrating to Portugal again to run away from all the madness. I feel sorry for our brasilian brothers, I hope everything improves.

well...we got mugged, actually ambushed by a gang, on copacabna beach on the rocks left side of the beach at noon...police kiosk every few meters on the beach ...empty! Local Hotel concierge we were staying did not help call police...While Big hotels (marriott /hilton/etc) on beachside have iron gates and close it after 10pm. Ring to get in. The street immediately behind copa beach = slums! Rio= s ---ks! Manaus, sao paulo = we two had no incidents. 2018.

Brazil is more dangerous than most places in the US, but go to LA, Baltimore and so on and there you will feel more in danger. Next time, please just do not go to Brazil.

Look dude, I'd love to go back. We had some wonderful experiences, but it's def a trip that requires more planning and safety precautions than a lot of other destinations.
