I love stacking Kano. It's super challenging - especially when the stack requires some sorting out to pull it off - but it's a huge thrill when it all comes together and you blaze for lethal. And just because you've chosen a stacking strategy doesn't mean you can't pop off if you find a window! Now...if I could just figure out how to play the mirror!

Pitch stack Kano is so stupid for balance and so satisfying to achieve. Like I like the sense of accomplishment when you do it. I played on talishar today and had a turn hitting second cycle where I spent 41 resources to play a disgusting kano combo. Also my experience learning it has been that 90% of blues don’t need specific memory. My house is my memory palace and all blues except gaze the ages and eye of ophidia are just blue jeans or bottles of Azul tequila based on if they are in a place i would set pants or food. So like I am in the kitchen and my tome of Aether wind is a cook book, and then in the fridge are two bottles of stupid expensive tequila. The only blues that get their own thing are gaze and eye bc eye cannot be hit with kano if I end up with a problem and having to banish a blue, and gaze can be hit to play and bottom two cards that I want to get rid of in the pitch stack.

This is awesome to hear since I'm working on this too. Is there any way you could talk about how to line up the tomes with blues? or how you start with a bad hand for your pitch stack?
@ryantame7 ай бұрын
Ideally you want to stack 2 blues after each Tome so when you get to stack you know that if you activate Kano into Tome, you know that playing Tome will draw you 2 blues. But this doesn't always happen when you're playing the game. Sometimes you'll stack 2 Tomes in a row or a Tome and then Blazing (or whatever) and then some blues. With your stack memorized, you'll know what to expect - so when you activate Kano and find the Tome you'll know not to play it right away but to activate Kano again to reveal Blazing - and then play your Tome.
@ryantame7 ай бұрын
It would be sweet if your starting hand (in a pitch strategy game) was like Tome, Blue, Blue, Wildfire or something - but it doesn't always line up like that. Sometimes the first few cards of your stack end up being garbage....or a bunch of blues. But knowing this about your stack - you are still in a good spot. It just means that you will DRAW into your stack instead of KANO-ING into it (if that makes sense). Memorizing the cards in your stack and their placement within the stack is crucial - but also memorize the logic of your stack. How is it gonna play out?

I'm sorry but you are so wrong. Kano isn't playing classic because he's rich, he's playing improv Jazz because he's a smug talented asshole and wants to flex his skills. Also, I took Kano to my local PQ after playing it once at the armory the same week and ended up 3-2. first loss was against Prism who dropped a Genesis on turn 0 then another on turn 1 and the other was a Katsu who did an AoW turn while I was holding a potion so I don't think I could have done better. After that, I got a paired into a Dash (OG, not I/O) and did a nice 60+ damage turn one so that felt good.
@Thagor957 ай бұрын
Is it really important to know the exact cards? I remember one of your stream where you were trying to remember which blues were after your tome, but the only important information is that there are 2 blues. When I pitch stack with kano, I just try to remember this: threats, blues, and tomes. Sometimes I remember more details about the threats, because this time it's important. But most of the time, it's "Ok, now I know that it's a tome, then a threat, then 2 blues, then a tome, then 2 blues, then 3 threats". And I just banish tomes and threats, draws blues, and once the threats are banished, I can see them and know in which order I need to play them.
@MajiinBae7 ай бұрын
Using this technique it's a lot easier for me if I remember the exact cards. Because then the other cards have context around them instead of just nameless blue

FaB is unique in that you get a brand new hand of 4 cards every turn. Having to take notes on every new card you see would be very cumbersome which is why it's just straight up banned outside of keeping track of life totals.
