Awwww 😭😭 reminds me of when my homegirl let me do makeup at her wedding for tips and nobody tipped me....she felt horrible because I did more for the wedding than just makeup so her and her husband gave me $500! But legit I only did 2-3 faces and it was so basic they definitely blessed me. I teared up as soon as u got to that point of the story. It definitely helps when people bless you and your work.

I do the same. My 4yo daughter is pretty intense. To teach both my daughters (12yo and 4yo), I have them do the tipping to encourage respect for talent and those who give services we cannot. The 4yo usually gives hugs with her tips too.

There have been times when our servers have connected and made the experience so fun, they chose to tip 100% of our bill. The first time my oldest did that, she was 5 and she made our waitress cry tears of joy. She'd had a rough day and we were here last table: by her own admission, we were a fun table because my daughter was enchanted and excited to interact. Very few people have all the money they'd like to have. Ultimately, if core needs are met, the rest is just money. We may have turned down stuff we didn't really need, but the lessons to my daughters are priceless. Especially that being a server is an honorable role in our culture, one well worth their consideration even if the base pay is wretched.
