In regards to the tree it really reminds me of Yggdrasil or the tree of life, as you mention they say ever after is inspired by scottish and scandinavian folklore so whilst im unsure if disney has referenced the tree of life (outside of marvel) i think this could be a large inspiration.

Maybe it doesnt feature in the showcase because its tied to act 2? From what i recall we have to venture to a strange world beneath the storybook vale to solve the mystery. i think thats on the roadmap or something. Perhaps its roots reach down to aurora.

The first thing that came to mind when you pointed out that tree was Grandmother Willow from Pocahontas. Now, obviously the one in the artwork is withered and leafless, and you don’t see her face, but it just really gives that vibe to me. The colors are spot on. I would love if she has to be revived because something evil that Maleficent did to her? Oh I hope so. She would really tie in nicely with the magical flora that’s such a highlight in that biome. (But surely they would have teased up something that big. )

In Forgotten Lands (which given how blatantly Maleficent themed it is I'm shocked she's dlc) there is a Forbidden Mountain/Bald Mountain themed mountain as a focal viewpoint of the area so they didn't reuse it here and just using her castle. Perhaps it's stuck in a beanstalk as part of unlocking her quest in part 2

I totally agree! I remember that a lot of players thought that Maleficent would be part of the Forgotten Lands given how heavily it's themed to her vibe. But it makes sense for them to split out the mountain and go a different route for the actual castle in the DLC!

The Giant Teapot we see is not just a teapot, or some random teapot from the table, but that EXACT SAME three-spouted teapot is actually used by the Mad Hatter when pouring Alice herself tea in the animated movie. The interesting thing is not that it's in there, but that Alice is not. Rather, the Alice Realm (and most likely Alice herself) is base-game (see the Road Map).

If you think about it we have a bit of Fantasia in the game already with Churnabaugs (think I spelled it wrong) changing castle so with them adding more stuff from that Disney classic with the baby Pegasus critters makes me happy

Great video! One thing i disagree with you with is location of where we will find aurora. I believe we will actually find here beneath the main building in the Bind. In the trailer it shows the mosaic transforming to reveal the image of aurora as if that floor about to be open. In the road map for dlc, it says find a missing princess beneath storybook vale. Given maleficent castle is high up, i don't think it would be up there but below the main library building.

the tree reminds me of a withered version on the pixiedust tree from the tinkerbell fairies movies. it would make sense if we had a quest needing to revive the pixiedust tree and help tink since the skull cave is listed in the future path for what's too come soon
