Your transparency on all your personal information and everything else as far as what you paid what you owed and your whole situation is honestly why I love your channel and everything about you. You’re a great guy and so helpful to anyone you come across. I am in the exact same position you were in right now. I have good credit and a good job but I just can’t stomach a 6-700$ payment but I want the Toyota Tacoma sooo bad. I completely relate to your father’s situation as I’ve been living breathing and thinking Toyota Tacoma for the last year now. They are soo expensive but so worth it, it’s just the dam interest rates are so bad right now. Anyways thanks Jeff for this video I know it’s a few months old but I saw at the perfect time.

thanks for the comment I will say the interest rate almost made me walk lol going from 1.9 to 5.5 made me nautious but at the end of the day life is short I said F it, lol...If you want a tacoma and run the numbers and know it wont end up getting repoed go for it and enjoy it...You will know your overpaying a bit but thats just what it is I dont see them getting any cheaper as time goes on I think the new prices hit for the hybrid ones ands they are seriously up there...now may be a decent time to get into a used one with alnmost no mileage for a big discount...

In October 2022, the 2015 Silverado 1500 we inherited from my wife's Dad was totaled out by a Sherrif's SUV. The insurance check afforded us a 2020 4Runner TRD Off Road (Auto-Trans) with a whopping 10k miles on it (literally owned by an old couple as a winter vehicle). I really dig the 6 Banger compared to our 2000 Tacoma SR5 4-Cylinder (5-speed manual). Both are Gray-Man looking vehicles (they're both plain old Silver) & we've had the Tacoma 20 years! Our 3rd vehicle is a 2003 Silverado 1500 Shorty-Side-step fire engine red. It's currently residing in my late F-i-L's garage 420 miles away. We're using it as the trailer hauler while we clean out the place so we can move in eventually.

the sport and off road are essentially the same truck. The off road has crawl control where the sport does not. you can add the tech package to any of the TRD's or Limited models. Leather typically only comes standard in the Pro and Limited models. If you have leather in an off road it must have been an add on. Either way you are going to love the truck
@cutlerylover Жыл бұрын
thanks I do love the truck, but the diffferent models really are different enough in many ways to pay the extra for a specific one your lo0king for...the sport model and offroad are very different trucks in their capability and have different suspension, as well as different wheels and rims, the offroad comes with 16" rims with bigger tires in this case an all terrain goodyear wrangler with kevlar, of course theres a lot the same like the cab and most of the interior but you cant gte leather in the sport you cant have a sunroof, the Bilstein shocks in the offroad are not availabe on the sport from factory, crawl control and locking differential options are only available on the offroad and pro...if someone just wants a tacoma to have one they can stick with a basic Sr for $30k, half the price of a loaded one lol..

I’ve had 2 Tacoma’s. One was a 2017 and my current one is a 2021. Made the mistake of buying a new Ram in middle. 🫤The 2017 was fairly heavily modified. My current one is only lightly modified. One little piece of advice I’d give is don’t go crazy with the mods haha. Weight, aerodynamics, and dependability start to go down a little in my opinion. Obviously if you have unlimited money that’s no big deal, but still making payments makes you think about it haha. I’m going to do the same thing, drive it till the wheels fall off! I’m tired of car payments. I’ve bought something new every two years. Luckily I have a work truck also so the Tacoma has only racked up 7000 miles in the last couple years. My trucks name is Tacomole!

To the holding their value topic, my local dealer just sent me the current Carfax vehicle report for July. My 2019 Tacoma TRD Off-Road, with low miles at 15,963, is valued at $36,950 trade-in. Whether I'd get that in a private sale, who knows, but that price is around what I paid for it. Love Toyota resale values, having got 54% on a 1989 P.U. with 120K at 8 y.o., and 56% on a 2001 Tundra Limited with 87K at 12 y.o..

My buddy got a new 22’ Tacoma he’s had about a year now(7500miles) and we both think it’s ok just has become overpriced for what it is… His 4wd actuator is broken(won’t go into ANY 4wd high or low, known issue they will fix free just hasn’t) after 6 months, the sensor in the front emblem(yes there’s a sensor in the emblem) malfunctioned or was having trouble & replaced, and the bed makes this annoying squeaking sound we and nobody else can figure out… He always complains about some kind of automatic driving feature(he can’t turn off) that kicks in all the time(especially on two lane roads) that he HATES and has to fight in the steering or brakes/gas?(I’ve never drove it so I don’t know exactly what he means). Other than that the bed is tiny, road noise isn’t great, and I was really surprised how small it actually is inside and out… I personally like the truck, but my buddy hates the issues he’s had on a brand new vehicle(especially his first toyota), and if he could do it over he says he would probably think a lot more about going with a Tundra for how expensive the Tacoma was, what $ he put down, and for better towing/room. He wanted the one with the bigger bed, sunroof, and some off road “sports package”(idk what that includes) but they were impossible to find at the time he was looking to buy. One other thing I noticed was the seat height to floor ratio, the seats seem to sit a lot lower to floor compared to “American” trucks that sit higher/normal, in the Tacoma my feet feel way forward like my thighs are close to the floorboard, instead of more up & down like a couch feeling in an American truck, idk it was just different from trucks I’m used to, guess it’s like a more “high performance” seating like in a corvette or something being lower to the floorboard body roll and turning doesn’t feel as bad/extreme… I just hate how expensive its become, I remember not long ago when Tundras were 50k$ and Tacomas were actually affordable trucks regular dudes could own/afford. I’m glad you love your new truck! I like your plan for keeping it long term, I think that’s a good idea! These trucks really hold their value!!

My dad got a new 97 Tacoma, in 2005 he had to replace the entire frame which was about 7-8 grand, since the warranty expired. He sold it later that year.
