You handled the situation better than I would have. I would not have replied to her very long text. I would have gone to her room and said sorry and explain why I did not reply it was then up to her to apologise to me too. However, over time we would have remained friends.

Wow...to answer the question: I wouldn't have sent you that type of text at all to warrant an apology later; I'd make the conscious effort to remember my card so I wouldn't impose on others even if we're great friends. I can't always expect for others to help me, so I gotta remember to help myself; that means keeping the card in my wallet at all times. (not that I wouldn't apologize, just that I'm not going to assume you were ignoring me, so a text of that nature wouldn't have been sent out At All) And I'm the type of person that holds grudges, especially when the person doesn't bother to apologize at all and see that their actions/behavior was in the wrong. I keep these events in mind so that I learn from them and so that I can take different steps to avoid them from repeating or just and three individuals altogether; I've already lived that experience, I don't need a refresher, lol. However, the first roommate I ever had...I miss our friendship. I'm glad that you were able to maintain your correction, and sheer learned never to speak to you like that again, but my roommate didn't have the courtesy of doing that. Our suitemates could recognize my efforts and appreciate them, but the person I Lived with couldn't -wouldn't, and it hurt. While I wouldn't mind being friends again, because it Was fun, I still feel that I'm owed an apology; that That would let me know she gives a damn. I'm the person my friends can always look towards for support/help, but sometimes I'd like the same in return. Even the strongest person needs someone to lean on, and I'd like to know that I can reply on my friends when I need them.

I see what Maddy was trying to do with using her I statements to describe how she felt but she never took any ownership which is key. You can describe how you felt but also understand how the other person feels as well. Then own up. I applaud you for communicating and being direct. I would've done the same with the $10. Also as long as you stand up for yourself and have self respect for yourself first and foremost then I see no problem with forgiving and moving on. Just be careful with who you choose to re open the door to after you forgive them.
