STORYTIME: WHY I QUIT MY JOB

I used to work at the movie theater. About 6 months in I broke my hand when I dropped a 16 pound bowling ball on it and crushed it between the ball and the table. With a broken hand, I couldn't work concessions and could only be an usher. Two days later when I was working my manager CALLED ME INTO HIS OFFICE and said, and I quote, "I don't appreciate you injuring yourself to inconvenience everyone because you don't want to work concessions". FIRST OFF. why TF would I not want to work concessions when I literally get to eat all the damn popcorn and slushies my ass desires. SECONDLY if I was going to injure myself purposely I sure as hell would have done it less painfully. Needless to say I dropped my badge on his shoes and left. He still gives me dirty looks, but then again he works at a movie theater while I'm now working in the emergency room at our local hospital so he can suck my ass.

I quit a job I loved because my boss was super racist. The day I quit, he refused to serve two women and their families because they were black, and he proceeded to mock their looks until they started crying and left. I was so shocked because before that I never saw him act on his racism. I ran after them apologizing, and they said "how could you work for a man like that?" and then my boss snapped his fingers and whistled at me like a dog to get back to him. So I told the women "I don't work for him anymore because I just quit." flipped off my boss, had the women laughing at him, and we walked away together.

It was slow at the registars and we were stand at the front of the lane to greet and wait for customers to come to our lanes and one of the managers said the bathroom was filthy and told me to go clean it! I quit home depot. Management was shit, and so were most of the customers. my last day I was there, I was helping a guy move concrete blocks and he dropped one on my hand, and one of my fingers got crushed. the top of my finger is still blue, under the nail. I had tears in my eyes struggling with the rest of the blocks and not one associate, manager, or customer asked if I was okay. like, if I saw someone get injured I would at the very least ask if they're okay. And on top of that, the guy that crushed my finger was just like "oops," and "can you still ring up my stuff?" I wanted to punch him in the face.

I quit my job because 1, I dealt with harassment and management didn't take care of it correctly and they were mad I went to corporate and they were mad they had to fire their "best friend" so they cut my hours and were ignoring me. So I quit. -I quit the job I got right after that because they were SO incredibly rude to me. And I was still new. They would juggle me around so much, give me the BIGGEST fucking attitude anytime I asked a question. They just expected more out of me than I knew how and so in the middle of a rush I just went to the bathroom, walked out and said I can't fucking do this anymore and left. Told them to clock me out lol BYE.

I love your work stories; they're always really funny and entertaining! I once worked at a local bookstore, and while there were things I enjoyed about it, the management was absolutely TERRIBLE. The manager liked to hide in his office ignoring everyone, barking orders through the headset whenever he needed one of us. He made his assistant manager do all of his dirty work, so we rarely saw him unless he was creepily watching us from the second floor of the store. He made a new schedule, reducing me to one shift a week for no reason, and when I confronted his assistant manager about it (because you couldn't find him anywhere), she made up phony reasons to fire me and literally escorted me out to my car. The reasons were: a) some random toy got stolen on my watch (in reality this particular toy packaging had been sitting in the same place for weeks, but they tried to tell me it happened during my last shift) and b) "certain rules (I was never given specifics) were ignored." This job had no evaluations, and I had never once been written up or scolded. They couldn't afford to pay me anymore, so instead of telling me that, they decided to sabotage my hours and then make up reasons to fire me when I refused to quit. I will never work retail again!
