I just wanted to say that I'm happy you signed the painting. Signing your work isn't about declaring you or your work important; it's a finishing touch to celebrate completing the piece. I'd also suggest adding a date, even if it's just the year. That way you can better track your journey!

I think there will always be a version of me in other people’s head that doesn’t actually exist and I had to accept that pretty early on in my career online. But it’s particularly terrifying when I’ve been hired to be myself in front of a large group of people because being able to see people’s faces and look in their eyes while they evaluate the physical you vs. the idea of you they built in your head is really intimidating!

I don't know if you'll read this but it's really important for me to tell you you're the reason I started crocheting. Your short about how people with adhd should start learning with amigurumi made me obsessed instantly, after a long time where I wasn't passionate about anything. I bought my first hook and yarn the same day and it became one of my biggest hobbies. it lead me to so many great memories. Bestie I think you’re more skilled in making up stories about failed paintings because that was so beautiful that I forgot it was completely made up. A painting with that backstory would sell for thousands in a gallery, and I mean that in the absolute best way possible. I grew up in Lincoln, NE and lived there off and on until I was in my mid 30s. The tornado siren test every Wednesday at 11:00 was something I pretty much took for granted. What I just realized is that for the past 20 years that I’ve lived in Oregon I’ve never heard any of those big sirens for anything. I kind of miss them. I also miss big skies, summer thunderstorms and fireflies.

Yes, acrylic needs water. However I adore Lens Cap. You do you, I do me, and whatever the paint gods bring is a gift. The oranges look really good! There is one Elyse. How Elyse is performative might vary a bit, but that means no one is ever bored. I'd pay to see you have speak your way through a potential anxiety attack. Paintings, teeny in the corner or on the back for small paintings. Oh, this made my afternoon. Thank you.

I've been teaching myself to paint for the last couple of years. And the things that much better artists have taught me is that EVERY painting goes through an ugly stage and that no matter how much you practice, you still know you painted it so you will always see the imperfections. FYI, every Wednesday at 11 am our area of Omaha has a tornado siren (during “the season”), and yeah, I always wonder what would happen if it was the real deal. We’d all be ignoring it, and the news the next day would report how the majority of our county was wiped out. PS I love the idea of hanging “Lens Cap” with a museum label.

I love these videos! Your painting looks like a vintage orange label! I grew up in a town in california famous for their oranges (Exeter, Ca) and they had murals of vintage labels and that painting would be right at home ❤

Also my big tip for enjoying painting is paint whatever you want, whatever your brain gets the happy from I’m on a neopets kick but I had a pepper era, and a frog era as well and had so much fun with it I’m liking flowers now too since I’m doing ones I think are cool

wait the painting was so cute! i love it so much! it's okay if not all the paintings turn out like that one. art is art. and sometimes the beauty of the piece is clear in the final product, and sometimes the beauty of the piece was the experience and memory of making it (just like a full roll of lens cap photos)

fun painting fact: if you ever need to make a color dull (take the neon or brightness out of it) add a couple drops of the contrasting color. So, for orange, you would add in a bit of blue. Just make sure the shades are the same! (i.e. tangerine's opposite is sky blue).
