Gorgeous. Especially during the foliage season. If anybody is looking for a vacation rental in Stowe, I've got just the spot! Don't hesitate to reach out. Also would add visiting the different farmers market in the area... such genuinely kind people!

I'm not sure if you can help me out with this or not. But there is a town in vermont where they actually walk up and down at the sidewalks, as opposed to driving. In fact, if not mistaken, that was that distinct detail. The residents actively shopped in many of the small businesses a long the sidewalks. I think there was a reference of a few popular coffee shops. Does any of that sound familiar to you?

Lived & worked in Stowe...from Vermont. It’s nothing more then a haven for the wealthy...and everyone in Vermont, who is from Vermont looks at Stowe as “not apart of Vermont” rather as the locals call it, Flatlander Town. Sure, if you are wealthy with no kids...go for it. If you are middle class or below, or wealthy and have children above the age of 12, they will likely end up getting into a bad scene that nobody talks about openly. It’s an ominous place, with ongoings I will not speak of here. It is not this “fun filled” “great place to live”. As a Vermonter who grew up on skis I can tell you now, snowboarding and skiing are not the “end all in life” for teens! It gets old, quick. The entire State of Vermont is one of 4 States that lead the Country in slowest 10 year economic growth and the cost to live here is absolutely ridiculous. The State is awash with bad stuff...and I’m not talking about cannabis, but far worse. Even wealth will not shield your kids from this even (especially) in a place like Stowe. Your wealth WILL be used to obtain a good defense attorney though! Or rehab...Vermont is the land of the lost. This idea that Vermont is so peaceful, think again. My father is still an unsolved homicide & I was shot two times @ 19 yrs of age upon returning from the Navy by an active shooter...”The little state that couldn’t”...Vermont is a mess, crime is out of control, the taxes are ridiculous, there is no housing...oh and those nice, cozy Vermont winters...yeah, the ones where it’s complete darkness by 3:30 pm for months and temperatures often plunge into the -20 to -30F for days often weeks at a time...yeah that’s Vermont. Add in the crime, an hour to two hour drive just to get to a highway, the crumbling infrastructure eg roads worse then many 3rd world countries (been there, seen em) the salt that destroys vehicles, the isolation, all the shady stuff here, the contempt many feel towards those who move here, coupled with the old ways being long gone make Vermont a place to just...stay away from. Nearly every video on “living in Vermont” & “what a great place it is to live” seem to be made by people who have never lived here...It’s not any place I wanted to raise my kids. Unfortunately we moved back to help my mother and now...We’re moving out to get as far away from this desolate, cold, expensive, dark place. Enjoy the skiing & snowboarding though! Oh and the “locals” that drive around in their oversized trucks sporting rebel flags (who have never lived in the south, and often never leave Vermont) that talk like uneducated morons...oh, speaking of education...Vermont also practices the ancient old “from the 50’s” tradition of educational tracking, to “peg” your child into one of three social classes. (No, I’m being absolutely serious, look it up). Vermont’s educational system actually labels children as learning disabled, placing children on 504 or IEP services so the State may profit roughly 40k per child per IEP services yet these children will never be delivered the educational services supposedly attached to these programs. Oh, did I mention Dr shortage? How about absolute mental health crisis & the lacking of services as well. Or the privatized prison system Vermont profits off of as it’s one of the $$$$$$ earners for the State. We have incentivized taking these kids, bored with no outlets in life, unless you literally only hunt, fish and ski...and throw them in prison for non violent, mostly drug related violations. And, don’t worry...the State will provide your child with a defense attorney. However, another factoid...Vermont & W. Virginia are the only two states IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY that allow a person to become a lawyer without having to attend law school! I’m not joking...look it up. Well...there’s more but...I’m tired of recanting all the joys of “Vermont Living”. In synopsis, this is no Newhart and there are few things that have remained “quaint”, few traditions untouched, or even left...Vermont is NOT what it was and never will be. I wanted to give a frank & candid picture of the real Vermont, as it really is. And I left out so many other issues of this small state. Either way, be well and take care.

Jesus Christ dude, your life story is not the end-all be-all of experiences for Vermont. Sorry for the crap you went through but everywhere has problems and people can have awful experiences anywhere. My favourite state is Minnesota, which is where I live, but we arent exempt from issues. I still love it. Even with how bad crime has sadly gotten in Minneapolis, even in my own neighbourhood. I grew up in Florida and hated it there but I dont act like everyone's opinion should reflect mine.

Only one thing comes to my mind after reading your devastating note - Bernie Sanders is Senator from VT for last 16 years. That speaks for a decline.
