Stowmarket Street Names - Episode 1

In this walk I look at the origins of three street names in Stowmarket Suffolk:
Lime Tree Place
Bridge Street
Takers Lane
I also explore the significance of the two rivers in the town and an old name for this area.

I remember being told about Takers Lane on a primary school trip by a teacher. It’s changed so much from when I was a kid! All those houses!

Another great and interesting walk. As a boy I remember going to the bakers on the corner called Cooks, I think, but there was also another one higher up Lime Tree Place towards the corner shop, but on the opposite side. There was also one in Bridge Street. the latter two were behind their houses and I always tore bits of the warm crusts off on the way home.

The bakery was in the garden of the rear of the property of number 78 lime tree place, the house you thought it could of been on the corner. The building was knock down along time ago.
