Yeah that's the best translation for "Stadtbahn" because it's both a tram and a metro somewhere in the middle.

@@jonkess2768 That is true, But I would consider the Frankfurt U bahn as a Light Metro because it is mostly underground in the downtown area and only one out of the many lines run on streets.

@@harang9759 Ok true but for me a metro has to be grade separated. Here you have level crossings everywhere. The Bochum Ubahn here in my region nearly fulfills that except that is does not because of level crossings near the Autobahn. Like two or three? But definitions are always ambiguous so feel free to call it that. Edit: Ok maybe not fully separated but to the level of railway lines.

@@jonkess2768 I see your point. That makes sense, the reason I just think of it like that is because: 1. It’s mostly Underground. 2. It doesn’t run on streets (except U5) and 3. It has metro like trains. For example, on the U4 they have 100 meter long trains. You can walk through the whole train since all the carriages are all connected. It’s like a metro train.
