Do you guys see any difference in the quality of the material when forging it in the coke versus gas forge? I mean do you think sulfur from coke has negative influence on tool making?

Not at all. Just have to be mindful not to burn it up is all.

Is well drilling sucker rod of A36 quality?

I believe it’s a little bit harder but have used it in the past for tooling blocks and I think I remember quenching it in water.
