the first and third ones can be done in the normal way. Use a table of values to find the y values when x is 1, 2 and 3

Nicole Garcia most mathematicians use that type of 'x' do you don't get times/multiply and 'x' mixed up. So for example you have 3x X 6 it would be difficult to tell apart which is times and which is the value so they write 'x' that way.
