Great Britain is misrepresented on Google Maps with a single picture of a rock in a field. We need to change that with a good old cup of tea. We took inspiration from GeoWizard and had our first attempt at a straight line mission to make things interesting for us! ‪@GeoWizard‬

Lightened my heart watching this. You two have a lot of fun together. As a fellow Yorkshire Dales missioner, I can attest to the difficulty of off-trail walking too. Moorland is really uneven, spongy & wet. It proper saps your energy!

I thought for sure that cup was going with a bang. It is so nice to see you and Em out there making such a unique video, too. But you know what will happen now, we will all have to follow! I haven't laughed so much in ages. It was brilliant. I'm off to leave my review on Google. Hopefully, we get to see you both out on another adventure soon. Thanks for sharing ❤.

That was a fantastic stone wall at the beginning........like a miniature Hadian's Wall...here in the USA, our stone walls are not as high and are more rounded.........I have watched a few straight line missions on utube...so great job..thanks🐻🐻

There are loads of dry stone walls in Northern England, some of them are amazingly built on some extreme inclines. They obviously serve the purpose of keeping animals enclosed and marking boundaries, but they are also a by-product of removing stones from fields. I heard somewhere that in the 19th century, a government employment program was basically to take people to the fells and have them build dry stone walls. I've not done any research to validate this so I don't know for sure if it's true. Considering the only thing holding them together is friction (no cement/mortar at all) they are very resilient and can last a few hundred years, although sometimes sections need to be rebuilt every now and then. There are various regional styles of construction, too, so someone who knows their stuff could tell you where a wall is just by looking at it. Well, strictly speaking I guess they could tell you where the person who built it was from.

Well done the pair of you!! A great idea. Falling down bogs reminded me of navigating Dartmoor. Just as well you had Em there to help you up that slope. It must have been dark by the time you got off the moor. I've left you a google review, my first one ever!! Thoroughly enjoyed watching, all the best!!

Great vid. A feature on Google maps is you can download an area when you have signal and it stays on your phone for 30 days. Use it all the time in poor signal areas.

Good effort, the passage from wainright stuck a cord. Have you seen those things though that they have in George Fisher? Maps I think they call them. Really good, work without any data plan and if you mix it with a magnetic field pointing device you can find your way with no need for a battery :)

Literally just this morning I was thinking it had been awhile since I had seen a video from you. And lo and behold here you are! 😁 I really hope you guys had permission to be on that land because videoing yourself going by a sign that says "private" and then posting it to KZbin can be kind of silly if you don't. Hope you and Em have some amazing adventures in 2024!

Good to be back Micah and thanks for stopping by again! Nah no permission to be there but the UK is a bit odd with this stuff. The area surrounding the centre is actually covered by the right to roam so for the most part we're all good. There was a few fields that were farmers land but we would of left if asked to! All good tho :)

Not sure about the end result. Did you leave the Union Flag mug at the centre point in lieu of that unfound rock? I guess the return would have made an even better video than the outward journey. Where next, the North Pole? Remember not to follow magnetic north. Oh, and take a pan to boil a brew. Em is one tough cookie. ❤

The issue i had with the drone was the wind but also i couldnt find the bit of clear land that didnt have heather everywhere. The picture with the rock seems to be a small clearing so im not sure if that rock is just covered in heather now?
