I went to a straight Christian wedding recently, and they kept repeating how they were going to become "one flesh" and that the bride was going to be a part of the groom. They then had to grab each other's hands. When the bride took the groom's hands, the wedding planner talked about how those are the hands that will feel their baby kicking, hold the baby, and make money for their family. When the groom had to look at the wife's hands, the wedding planner was talking about all the massages she would do for him "after they've both had a long day" and said that those are the hands that will make his family's meals, keep their home clean, feed/bathe/take care of the baby, etc. Awesome double standard that made my boyfriend and I insanely uncomfortable. Regarding Kwite's "extension" of the one about the lottery: my wife and I (I'm a bi man and she's a bi woman, so ig it's kind of a straight marriage) love doing jokes like that. We both have a semi-dark sense of humour, and we're both madly in love with each other so we can go into topics like divorce without any worry that it's serious. I feel like a large part of this is because of people who didn't have or don't use the internet enough to realize what they actually want. So they lower their standards to the floor just to not be lonely. "Everything is saying a relationship fixes that feeling. This terrible feeling the relationship gives me must be because I'm messed up." People who aren't straight tend to have better relationships mainly because they actually have the experience to have standards and interact with enough people that they'll meet the one they like being around. One whom whatever they change for is changes their happy to do to accommodate the person they love.
