1985 GMC BRIGADIER with a Detroit Diesel Silver 6v92TA and straight pipes. Just out making sure the neighbors aren't napping.

The sound of these engines is music to my ears. It reminds me of garbage day as a kid since the trucks that the trash company used were 1970s GMC 9500s with 671 Detroits & a 1980s GMC Brigadier with a 6V92 Detroit Diesel. I have loved the uniqur sound of these engines since they growl with power & authority. If I had a tractor trailer or big diesel truck of some sort, it would definitely have a 6V92 Detroit Diesel. Nice truck, by the way!

Good to see the old Brigadier again! Would you happen to know anywhere that sells the windshield rubber seals and/or the glass for one of these?
@MotormasterK1008 жыл бұрын
Hi Nathan! Unfortunately, I do not know anyone that does the glass or seals. Luckily, mine were in pretty good shape. If I do come across anyone, I will let you know. Thanks!

Got any recent videos of this beautiful Brigadier?

It's great to see that there are people out there that care enough too keep these good ole' trucks going. It would be great if you did a walk around video if you already haven't.

There are a couple of videos out there that have more of the exterior. When I can, I will do a full walk around though. Thanks for the interest!

I wish you would have taken an engine shot or two. This brings back a lot of memories of when I went to tech school. We had a Detroit 6v92ta that we played with. Sweet sound.

Thanks! I will try to remember to get a video of opening the hood up and showing that freshly painted Silver 92!

@MotormasterK1007 жыл бұрын
sheppardpat47 no, those are new replacement Hadley air horns. the truck came with a single twin bell bully horn. I've just always liked the sound of the hadleys.

I love this truck. I love the sound of a 6 cylinder Detroit. If you ever come down to Alabama you've got to give me a ride in that thing. 😍

Indeed. It was more of a "First start in 48 hours" kind of day. Had to build a little air before leaving.

Have you ever heard that my dad used to own 2 GMC Brigadier tractors? It’s true. And if you rev a cold engine, you’re risking shortening the engine’s lifespan. My dad’s GMC Brigadier tractors were a white GMC Brigadier with the very engine yours has, and a blue GMC Brigadier with a Cummins. My dad never straight piped either truck, but in later years with his 1990 Mack CH tractor and his 1997 Volvo tractor, he put straight pipes on them with a blower top.

Can you explain to me (since im used to them modern 'clean diesels' which break rather easy) How can a Detroit engine be this durable ? They are happy in the high revs... They work best in the high revs.... They basicly tend to last forever.... What makes them Detroits so extremely great and durable ? (i tried driving a Euro 6 Paccar MX 13 at nonstop high revs.... I blew the engine in a day.....) I mean hearing a 6V92 is much more Eargasmic than any sportscar... The Lamborghini Diablo tends to try to sound alike a little. Id be happy for an answer to a question that's burning my mind for a while now.

DieselHeart BR218 it literally comes down to the metal parts of the engine being way thicker than they need to be
@AllianceB956 жыл бұрын
10-4 :) Many thanks. That does explain why them Detroits seem to last forever. Quite litteraly a nice 'extra mile' of General Motors.
