1:16 is one of the biggest jokes of a PK call I've ever seen. No mention of the fact that a STL player gets kicked in the head going for a head-ball later with no call.

The no call in the CHI ORL game was an embarrassing miss on the field, and a criminal miss by VAR. What the heck were they doing that they didn't review that? Same with the handball. Was VAR at Disney during the game?

Probably, but given how many Dallas players committed questionable handballs without any calls made for it throughout the game, it was at least consistent. No calls all game would have been a very bad thing to make that call at the end of the game.

I was rooting for Austin and agree with you 100% on the 1st one. I played it back a few times and see no contact. If there had been contact then maybe, but even that seems questionable. It looks like Dotson won the ball, Zardes realized that there were defenders all around him and went for a dive. The second one seems like a clear yellow

for the sliding handball, i know there at least used to be a specification for players sliding. and it was always the difference between the up or down arm, which in this case would mean since it hit his down arm then that would mean it just isn’t a handling offense.

Wiebe making the mistake that new MLS fans make: "It was not reviewed," "It should have been reviewed" - THEY ALL WERE REVIEWED. THE VAR OFFICIAL REVIEWS EVERY PLAY OF THE GAME. What you want is for the VAR official to have a DIFFERENT OPINION so that he sends it to the CR. The VAR official cannot by rule send a review to the CR unless the VAR OFFICIAL sees a clear and obvious error. I understand noobs, but Wiebe? SMDH.
@MrCho14
@MrCho14 3 күн бұрын
Totally agree. The way it was stated it sounds like VAR was at the snack bar. "Check" is what VAR does through the game the entire game. Everything that happens is being checked live and possibly being replayed by VAR and the Assistant VAR. "On Field Review" (or 'OFR') is when VAR did a Check and believes there is a clear and obvious error which the CR needs to look at. (In other leagues, an OFR is not required for things like offside where it's a matter of fact vs opinion.) Regardless of what words are used, Wiebe should be clear that "VAR did not see any clear and obvious error to send for an On Field Review".
@grantbyassee2594

You can't watch these games and honest to god think the VAR is actively watching. They miss/don't request a review on so many calls every single week that there's no possible way they could be
@MrCho14
@MrCho14 2 күн бұрын
@@grantbyassee2594 I truly believe that is a misconception by certain fans as to how VAR is designed to work. Fans want them to re-referee calls as opposed to only finding clear and obvious errors in the situations they are allowed to recommend an OFR. If anything, VAR in MLS oversteps that line too often. Even PRO calls VAR out of having reviewed things they shouldn't have from time to time.

That ATL was awarded a Penalty for that ridiculous dive, but StL was not for a player getting kicked in the head in the box with his head at chest height is a farce. Refs need to start having fines for obviously bias referring like this. Players and teams do after a game is over and reviews are done. Hell, I'd be good with a ref having to wear a shirt their next oficiating game saying in big letters; "However, further review shows I blow calls."

@@cdouglas6 what games are you having trouble finding? NFL is on the same channels every week. NBA on TNT or ABC. Please expand on that. Also I'm trying to watch one team. Prior to Apple, over half the timbers matches were on the 2 local fox affiliates. Now I have to pay more than 2 dollars a match to watch them on my phone. And that's if I watch every match. When I miss some, say I'm at a friend's house with cable and they are a casual fan who doesn't want to pay just to watch a handful of matches. Maybe I want to go camping, or just dont feel like watching, the price goes to $3 or $4 just to watch my local team owned by a rich kid whose team plays in a stadium owned by the city and pays $0 in rent. It would have been great to cover it after the St. Louis call as a perfect example of when a goal should stand. The foul must occur during the act of the scoring team gaining possession (as in the St. Louis foul) or after. Dallas gained possession after Rusnak’s handball and no foul occurred during the winning of the ball or the subsequent attacking play. It’s absolutely shocking that the announcers (including Seattle’s radio call) did not understand the laws governing the use of VAR in that situation. Given how mediocre most of the league announcers are, I don’t understand why they can’t find some mediocre crews that can at least explain the laws.
