Glad to see the upgrade to the Garmin. I find it easier to group a new rifle using a grid 1 inch square patterned target and place a small Bullseye at the intersection of four squares. It is a definite reference point to put the your crosshairs on every shot. Love this series

I ordered my 360 BH barrel from E. Author Brown. His barrels have a 1/12 twist and my barrel likes the 180gr and 220gr bullets the best.

This cartridge is high on my list for a straight wall cartridge to use in my new home state of Ohio. We moved from WV to Ohio last September and I am looking forward to this season. I want it in a lever gun, and I am hoping that Henry will come out with it in their All Weather model for Shot Show. 🤠🦌

Reminiscent of the 35-30, which is a 30-30 necked out to 358 cal. The old data I have seen mimics the 360 BH data. Basically, 200gr @ 2200.

So Arkansas no longer has black powder or primitive firearms, now it is alternative firearms season, and straight walled non semi-autos are allowed. So I am planning on getting a CVA Scout in something....🤷♂️ Need to keep the recoil around that of a 243 Win and the longest shot might be 125 yards, so I am thinking the 350 Legend is right there, but you have a lot more knowledge on these than I, what would you reccomend?
@Grizzlyman4202 ай бұрын
Id get the 450 over the 350 all day long. I’ve taken a lot of deer with that round. I have a Ruger American 450. Hell of a gun for the price
@Disastrous.Affect2 ай бұрын
@@Grizzlyman420 Unfortunately, the recoil is also significantly more. I have to keep the recoil fairly light as I have cancer on my ribcage and the docs are concerned with fractures. Otherwise I would just get a 444 Marlin or 45-70 Gov in a lever gun.👍

I just bought one of those barrels in .460 S&W Magnum. What are you using for a forend? My barrel is just about 1 inch in diameter, and neither my rifle or muzzleloader forend fit quite right.

What happened and why not the .375 Winchester? It can push a 200 gr bullet at 2,400 fps.
@StevenMMan2 ай бұрын
So I think you will find that for that caliber for a 1 in 14" twist that heavier bullets will shoot better. 225gr minimum 250gr better. Mountain man
@jamespugh2 ай бұрын
Basically a 35rem straight wall how Remington put it.
@StevenMMan2 ай бұрын
@jamespugh yea the whole straight wall thing, at its root makes little sense to me a rifle is a rifle. A 2200fps doesn't care if it comes from a shoulder. I own straight walled cartridges however you only limit to it is the platform that holds it. Nothing in a thompson center pro hunter that is magnum capable. Even my NEF'S are 62,000psi action. But it sells more product
@jic12 ай бұрын
@@StevenMMan The idea is that by limiting cartridges to straight-walled designs .35 or above (and, in some places, limiting cartridge length), you're limiting shooters to bullets that have crappy long-range ballistics, and therefore lessening the possibility of accidentally putting a round into something you shouldn't 1,000 yards away that you didn't know was there. That's why these laws are mainly in places with relatively high population densities.

What’s the significance of the Federal Hammerdown ammo? I see there’s a limited range of calibers in that “category”. Wonder if they will expand it?
@scotteger62712 ай бұрын
From what I understand the Hammerdown ammo is the Fusion bullet but made for lever guns. The brass is also nickel plated for smoother feeding and environmentals. I would guess they also apply a sealant to the primer, like they do in a lot of their ammunition.

@PassivePortfolios2 ай бұрын
Tne 360 BH is 150 fps faster than the 35 Rem. which is dying. It has to compete with the 350 Legend which does the same thing with 20 grains lighter bullets but less recoil, in cheap but accurate bolt action rifles. Hopefully CVA makes the 360 BH available in its single shot rifles to help it out. 360 BH accuracy needs some work.

The 360 buck hammer is the 30/30 round. Left has a straight wall with a 35 caliber bullet in it. They did this to get rid of the 35 Remington because of the problem of the 35 Remington lever guns. We hope when Thompson bring it back they do a pistol grip stock version. If the want to really sell them put iron sights and drilled and tapped.. this is why Henry single shot rifles can not be found. They sell out fast. We want Thompson to chamber the 7/57-8/57-303 British-38/55-500 SW-405 win mag-458 Lott and win mag.
@ralphbernieri33622 ай бұрын
It's comparable to the .35 Remington ballistically , but in a straight walled design which makes NO SENSE to create it in the first place besides a marketing ploy. IMO (same thing goes for the 45/70 and .450 bushmaster)
@jic12 ай бұрын
It makes sense because .35 Remington doesn't comply with 'straight wall' hunting laws in many jurisdictions.
@chipsterb49462 ай бұрын
360 Buckhammer allows for higher chamber pressure than 35 Remington and, therefore, has better ballistics (although not much).
@ralphbernieri33622 ай бұрын
@@chipsterb4946 yes, and that's OK my question is why can't the 35 Rem be used in the "straight wall restricted" game states??
@chipsterb49462 ай бұрын
@@ralphbernieri3362 because 35 Remington has a slight shoulder and is a bottlenecked case. Also, it is a rimless cartridge with a rebated rim. You can design a lever action for 35 Remington, but a rimmed case is easier to accommodate. 360 Buckhammer can use the exact same bolt as .30-30 Winchester.

"Assembled in China" on a Sig product makes me sad, love the video as always though.
@scotteger62712 ай бұрын
I know quite a few people in his comments like these scopes but I've had two of them and I can't get on board. The first one came on a used rifle I bought and the cross hairs were super thick. I got one of these 3-12's for a budget gun a little while back (savage axis), because the tube was a little longer than some other offerings. I noticed it's one of those scopes where you really notice you're looking through a scope...it has that toilet paper tube effect for me with a lot of black around the reticle. Other scopes I use don't have that and I find myself more accurate with them than something like these Sigs. The adjustments don't seem accurate to me either, which he demonstrated in other videos. Do the math to adjust and you end up way off, but again, with other scopes I have that isn't a problem. I think they're cheap for a reason. If you like them, then you like them and I'm not hating on you...but personally I want something a little better that I can trust.
