But first increase CEO bonuses, outsource major components, and line the pockets of crooked politicians until we need a government bailout.

Agree. That's the source of this terrible management culture. Government needs to step in.

most of the culture change that needs to happen must take place at the top. the lowly machinist does their jobs faithfully. The attitude problem at the top is egregious.
@archer1803

Are you sure about that? Boeing management is certainly responsible for most of the problems at Boeing, but was it management who didn't install the bolts on the Alaska Airlines door that fell off? Was it management who drilled the holes incorrectly in the aft pressure bulkheads? Was it management that left FOD in so many aircraft from the 787s to the new KC-767? That was the machinists, some union machinists in Seattle and some non-union machinists in South Carolina. The machinists have to accept some of the responsibility, too.
@Rocky-wz6co
@Rocky-wz6co 16 сағат бұрын
@@archer1803 it WAS management that set up the production process, it was management that set the wage and compensation structure that has made it difficult to hire new workers, it was management that watered down the training and hands-on learning in the factory that has hampered the learning curve and quality for so many workers, and it was management that farmed out engineering to cheaper, distant sources that has slowed production and fixes that have come from the shop floor. Workers have to do the work and share responsibility, but few armies can succeed without competent, involved generals who are about glory and money.

there is a HUGE gap.. saying the company cant pay what the union is asking for and then turns around and pays an exiting CEO $34 million to stay on the board of directors.

Some of the 17,000 may have been people like secretaries, bookkeepers, accountants, other office workers and many of them were probably women, these would be non management jobs.

The Bean Counters need to bow out if they want the culture to change. Middle management is rewarded for cost cutting. That means maintenance and repairs on buildings and equipment are pushed out. Safety ignored if it cost too much. That applies to vendors as well....they are expected to cut cost continually. Eventually quality suffers with such practices. I lost my Lead position ($3000.00 savings) for stopping the reuse of torqued bolts. (Big NO NO in manufacturing) It all comes down to the $.

$6BILLION quarterly loss!!!!!!! and more to follow it's going to be a long long turnaround on this. People are blaming higher management and rightly so but also the shop floor workers are not fit for purpose. These people produced shoddy poor work no pride whatsoever, shame on them for letting it happen! skilled workers they are not. I wouldn't pay them in peanuts, harsh but true.

According to the NTB Boeing needs three to five years to fix their quality problem but they do not have that long since the sanctions on Russia and China have caused them to come up with aircraft that compete with the &£&Max Boeings main money tree and this will displace their sales in BRICS countries that do not want to buy in dollars with Airbus taking a higher share of the rest with safer and more economic aircraft like the A350-2000.

Boeing will buy Embraer & Spirit AeroSystems. For these 2 purchases are those 10 billions that are raised from the capital market. It seems kinda costly to fly 737 fuselages all the way to Brazil ... but the way cheaper labor force of Embraer factory (44 % of Boeing salaries) will compensate & bring larger profit margins. 🤔 P.S.: Jon Holden brought the union members into this trap ... and will keep them in there ... until they will wake up. But it will be too late. The gates of the factory will be already locked. For good.
