Thank you for posting your experience!!!! I just got a perm today but unfortunately it did not come out as expected. And I am dreading my decisión of having gotten a perm. But you live and you learn 😪🤣. I will play around with hairstyles and wait for a month or so, until I try straightening it with chemicals! Did you ever try to straighten your hair with heat when you had the curls? If so, how did your hair react to it? Was it frizzy? Dry?
@poormanism3 жыл бұрын
It took me time to adjust to all of my perms and I love perms so don’t worry if you’re taking time to adjust to the changes. My recommendation is to comb your hair in the shower and let it drip dry. It looks so natural this way and I don’t need products at all. I did straighten my hair with heat but I didn’t like it because I knew it was damaging my hair more and more. I do know that people with natural wave or curls straighten their hair with heat all the time so the decision is yours. I recently got a tight perm while my hair was still short. The result made me look like Annie. I think I have a short video of me lip singing to “it’s a hard knock life” and now, 4 months later, I still have it and I still love it. That’s my tip, try to appreciate your perm at every stage because it will change and it won’t be like this ever again. Ehugs

Did you wash the neutralizer out before blowdrying hair?
@poormanism3 жыл бұрын
Initially, I put the wrong solution in my hair. I think I used the neutralizer instead of the [stinky] solution. I washed it off, poured the stinky solution on, comb my hair until it’s straight. Then I think I washed my hair the. Poured the neutralizer on. Then I just air dry my hair. I don’t blow dry my hair.

Hi.. how long do you leave first & second solution on hair? Is it loreal perm kit? Thanks .. i want straighten my bang only 😊😊
@poormanism3 жыл бұрын
Do you have thick hair? If I was to only straighten my bangs, I feel most of the perm solution would go to waste; I don't have very much hair. As for the length of time, it is most important with the first solution (I think it's the stinky one) but I can't remember how long I leave it in my hair for. What I measure instead is how straight the hair feels. This might be a mistake on my part so I can't guarantee this will work for you too. I just know that I leave the 1st solution on usually longer than instructed because my hair often doesn't feel straight like I want. Also to remember to keep combing and guiding the hair you want to straighten as you go. This is how you reshape the hair strands. It's quiet a gamble using this process because you don't want to stop it too soon before the hair is where you want it to be but you don't want to leave it in too long where it could damage more of your hair and or skin. I am not a professional, I have only experience doing this to my hair several times. I would advise you to ask this question to many other people you have seen using this technique to straighten their hair. Good luck and let me know how it goes. Remember, at the end of the day, it's just hair. I have to tell myself this each and every time I do something that I know could wreck it because it doesn't always work out. ehugs

im going to try this tomorrow. ive had a perm for about 4-5 months now and i miss my straight hair lol. did doing this give it the original texture u had ? & was ur hair wet/damp during the first process?
@poormanism4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ceci, straightening my hair with the perm solution made my hair straight again but it wasn't what it was before the perm. After straightening my hair again, my hair would be wavy when wet but it would mostly be straight when dried. The strength of the hair was now more like a typical blond hair which is much more fragile than typical dark Asian hair. I am assuming that you're asking about the straightening process and dealing with the 2 bottles of liquid. When squeezing the liquid onto your hair, it would be dripping down and will be going everywhere. It could get messy. Wear old clothes, make sure nothing valuables are out and could be damaged from the mess. Good luck!

Hey did it work after you washed it? Please be honest as I wanna give it a go on my permed haor
@poormanism3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the last picture on the thumbnail was the result. It’s good to know that what it looks like wet is what it’ll most likely to look like dry. I kept on combing the hair until it was completely straight. Any wave left is sure to result in waves when it’s dry. I should also share that my hair is pretty strong. It helps that I don’t use products or damage it any other ways. So when I do straighten my perm and put so much stress on it, it doesn’t completely fall apart. You know your hair best so be mindful of what it can handle, good luck 🤞

So will head and shoulders loosen my curls they are way roo tight
@poormanism3 жыл бұрын
Great question. When I got my perm recently, I talked to my hairdresser about this and she told me that Head and shoulders would loosen the curls if you use it in the first few days. For the past 2 perms, I've used head and shoulders months after the perm but I don't know if it's affecting the curls at all. When you first get a perm, it's going to feel strange, especially if it's a tight perm. I feel uncomfortable each and every time. However, try to make the best of it. It will only be tight for a few weeks and it will loosen up more and more. You'r biggest concern going into a perm is if it's all going to be even. I've had countless perms where there would be a chunk or two that are wavy when the rest are tight. I got my tight perm several months ago and now its a loose wave. So don't panic, just make the best of it. ehugs

How does a perm to make your hair curly, actually straighten it?? I’m so confused
@Juntao-yv5nb4 жыл бұрын
She didn't use any hair curlers or rollers to make it curl. She keeps combing the hair down so they come out straight.
@poormanism4 жыл бұрын
Great question! The solution use to perm hair changes the structure of the hair. So when I’m straightening my hair I look for that particular solution that is often associated with perming hair. The difference between the 2 processes: your hair must be in a curl position before putting the solution in to permanently curl your hair. And to straighten the hair permanently, you have to keep combing the hair straight out during and after pouring the permanent solution onto your hair.
@Briannafrancis-e9g4 жыл бұрын
Perm solution is basically going to do what YOU want. It softened the cuticles which alllows the hair fibres to bend or stay straight. Depends on how you bend or comb it straight. Once you let it do it’s job it’s going to give you what you want,as long as you put enough to saturate the hair.

@poormanism3 жыл бұрын
If you are using chemicals (perm solution) to straighten your hair, it should last forever. My hair is naturally straight so the curly hair from the perm got straightened by this new perm solution. If you have naturally curly hair, the part you try to straighten may stay straighten (depending how well you did the process) but once your natural curls grow out, your roots will have curly hair. So only the hair you try to straighten will get straighten. Does that make sense? My hair stayed straight until I cut my hair a few months later. Also, I don’t think I did a good job, my hair was still wavy when I washed the first solution off so my hair continued to stay a bit wavy afterward.

Hey I got a perm 4 days ago Nd I hate it and I want to remove it will my hair get damaged by doing this?
@poormanism4 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, I think you will only make your hair worst by removing the perm so soon after getting a chemical treatment. Your hair has been through lots of stress and it needs time to recover, regain vitamins and moisture. I would think its a mistake to remove the perm so soon, especially chemically done like I have. My advice would be to take advantage of the curls. With curly hair, it's easier to tie it up and make buns, braids, etc. I was unhappy with the perm I got previously to this one and I took the opportunity to try side shave and now so many people want me to do it again! You. never know what you can gain from this experience. If you really miss your straight hair, then you can always blow dry your hair straight. So many people with curly or wavy hair do this on the daily. This might dry out your hair too but it won't be as severe as giving yourself another chemical treatment. Good luck, keep me updated! Thanks for the comment btw.

I've got my perm 1 month ago, is it okay to do what you did to your hair?

And, how many times did you use that product to straighten your hair? And please can you give me the directions on doing that, because I badly want to get my straight hair back☹🙏
@poormanism4 жыл бұрын
Oh no. Joam, I am sorry you are unhappy with your perm. It is quite the risk to get one because it could go wrong. My personal opinion is that it may be too soon to straighten your hair. It is still recovering from the perm. How curly is your perm? I would highly recommend taking advantage of the curls to do other things with your hair you wouldn’t normally do such as put it in a bun or braiding your hair. You could also use Head and Shoulder shampoo to slowly relax your curls but make sure you are continually applying a good conditioner to nurture the hair and make it stronger after the stress from the perm. Other ways of straightening your hair is to use hot iron or blow dry it straight. I never prefer these options since I worry it would dry out my hair even more. However, I am unsure of the consequences of having your hair altered chemically so soon after a chemical process. I have been in your shoes and know how annoying it is to have your hair not as you wanted it.
@poormanism4 жыл бұрын
So if after all I said and you still want to chemically straighten your hair right a way. Here are some steps you need to take: Get a home perming kit from the store (drug store, grocery store, specialty hair store or online ). Follow the chemical steps ( which solution to use first then second, etc.) because instead of rolling your hair up you are going to use these chemical steps to help you straighten your hair. If you watched my video you would see I made a mistake by using the 2nd solution before the 1st but I caught myself in time to fix this mistake. The first solution in my kit smell really bad; make sure the room you are in is well ventilated and that you’re getting fresh air every now and then. Then try to completely soak the permed areas in the 1st (stinky) solution. Make sure you’ve comb through your hair and there isn’t any knot that will slow you down once you have the solution in your hair. For my thick hair and tight waves, I would section off the hair. Work from the bottom and clip the rest of the hair up (just as you would if you were straightening your hair with heat; work on a small sectional a time to ensure the chemical solution is on every strand of hair). Every section of hair you soak in the perm solution, use your comb and hand to stroke and pull out the perm. Soak all of the hair like this as fast as you could. Once you have used up all of the solution or most of it and your hair is completely soaked, continue to comb and pull out the curls by straightening it with your hands. You can see this in my video. Try your best to do this in the time frame the instructions tells you to. Mine said something like 30 minutes. For me I took a risk my ignoring this since I saw that my hair was still wavy. Your goal is to make the hair as straight as you want it while it’s drenched in solution 1, in the time you are advised to leave it on your hair. I would avoid putting the solution right into your scalps. And at anytime your skin feels irritated, make sure to clean off the solution in that area I’d the skin. Remember to follow the directions on the kit since I am going on memories right now. Once you hair is how you want it or your time has come to rinse off the 1st solution, do so as instructed on the kit. Then follow the instructions on applying the 2nd solution. Not all of my hair were completely straighten but they were more straight than curly so I was content with that. It is a gamble to do this process on your own so you would be to blame if it doesn’t go as you plan. I was lucky that my hair didn’t break off more with the stress I put it through. It was fragile and I can tell that it wasn’t as strong as it was so take care when dealing with your hair after wards. Be gentle while combing or brushing your hair since it might break more easily. If you have any other questions. Let me know and I’ll try my best to help. EHugs.
