Here's Ola's feedback regarding the pricing: “As a company, we are in this for the long haul and will support you, the player, down the line. This means offering generous warranties, investing in capacity for aftermarket service and support, and much more. We wanted to create an instrument that really makes a difference from an ergonomics perspective, sounds amazing, and brings something completely new to the table, which is far from just programming the CNC machine to cut a new contour. Ergonomics in this case starts with weight and balance, which led to having to design our own hardware; then chambering the body, which in our case means effectively building two basses, gluing them together and making a third bass from the result. For tone and stability, we laminate and bake our necks with carbon fiber using our own method, before cutting our patented EndurNeck(tm) profile, which requires infinitely tighter tolerances coming from the CNC than a conventional neck. We have our own production line at the factory, consisting of only especially trained workers, which we are very proud of. And lastly, on top of visiting the factory 4 times/year for training and continuous quality assurance, we ship the instruments to our own warehouses and quality control and set them up before they ship to the customer. So we certainly aim to give you what you pay for!”

It's still a ridiculous price point for an Indonesian made bass.

I fully appreciate the concept, the planning, all R&D done and ongoing. And I will pay 2800 Euro for a chambered Sandberg, 3700 for a handmade Marleaux, 4000 or more for a handmade Le Fay, etc. I know what it takes to build those Instruments in Germany partly with support of CNC routing. Understood. But: I do not see why your customers will spend above 3000 Euro for an instrument built in Indonesia for only one reason: To keep the costs low. Any professional worker anywhere in the world is "trained" so I do not see the point here. You should manufacture those fine instruments in Europe and ask the necessary price.

There are basses like the sadowsky metro series that are made under the same economic concep and are considerably cheaper than these basses, while retaining quality on hardware and electronics on par with what is offered by Stranberg. These basses are made on a contry much more cost effective than japan, where metros are made, and there are luthiers making basses here in europe, both by hand and on CNC, on the expensive to manufacture countries, for less than these strandberg basses go for, and some high tech basses which have R&D costs higher than these basses, like basslabs', on the same price point as these basses. Also have in mind than these basses are not painted, which is the most painstaking and time consuming process to perform on an instrument. These basses should be 2,3 to 2,5k euro, street price, there is no way to justify the extra 800 euro just saying "its R&D costs", remember that other brands on this price and quality point are adding warranty costs to the final price too. I like the basses, i would love to own one, but as a customer, and a biased one if you want, i want my instruments costs to be fair and properly justified.

I really like the bass design: ergonomic, light, CHAMBERED BODY, great tones & options. I also really love the body style and the fact they're headless.

Funny how the whole B string scale discussion goes. I for one got really excited when they announced the individual string scale lengths. In my experience and opinion, the tension on a 34" scale A string is just about perfect, while I feel the D and G strings are a bit too tight and the E and B are a bit too loose. So in my world going for the 33" to 35" Strandberg chose makes perfect sense. Now they just need to release a 040/055/075/100/130 string set to keep perfectly balanced tension :D

I've been looking at the bass for a while and watched your review several times... I love your sense of humour. I managed to snag #1 of the 5 Gold 10th Anniversary Editions 4 string/. Having played it for several months, every time I pick up my 1960 Fender Jazz it feels so "old school". The neck shaping, body shape & weight make SUCH a huge difference to the feel and playability. Not played it at a gig yet, so no idea about audience reaction..... May need to wait a while as on lock down

Great video as always! I think I'm right in saying that the Zen blades are not technically singe coil though. Nordstrand wanted to make a hum cancelling version of the Big Blade (which is single coil) so the Zen blade is actually a sidewinder humbucker. Love what Strandberg are doing with this line!

I think that if there is a brand that doesn't need to explain it's high prices, it is this one. I have never played one, but I can tell this is a work of art and engineering like very few others out there. I wish I can someday own one.

33” - 35” for the 5 string version.. I think this is a great design but they *should* go longer. The B is as long as my ibanez btb and if I were to get a multiscale I would look for at least 36 inches

Luv the design though. Now go out and slap at a slap slap slap like noli palini and pom frites. It's because you're paying that thing off for a couple years you know dream you're not jamming you're in debt to that but charging you three thousand f****** dollars for a $30 cost of raw material design you gotta think out of the box or you're not gonna get out.
