I'm pretty sure in these canals beaver dams can cause floods!!! That's this mans entire job is to keep the beavers from flooding the farmers land!!! Hav u been watching this channel long??😂😂😂 but u r correct also beavers are great for certain landscapes and creating aquatic ecosystems for other animals that live in or around water!!! Just not for this type of maintained farmland for these runoff ditches need to run freely to keep from backing up and flooding their fields and killing their crops!!! So for this type of landscape beavers are actually a nuisance and a liability to the farmers who need every single piece of their harvest in most cases jus to keep going!!!
@lylehart374427 күн бұрын
No they are NOT. That's man made dams. Beaver dams actually make floods much worse because they store excess water with zero reserve capacity which means that WHEN a flood happens the beavers just added a lot of extra water to the flood that would have harmlessly flowed downstream before the flood if the beavers hadn't built a dam
@donovanattano389824 күн бұрын
Not allways that land dont look like flood plains water im assuming is used for irrigation the beavers become pests under those conditions

The Beavers are communicating that they can help humans maintain ecology which supports humanity... Start looking at their marvels, and you'll be amazed. Much is to be gained from what is being learned from the beaver.

These are not natural waterways. They are man-made channels made decades ago to channel away excess water from productive cropping fields and to protect adjacent roads from subsidence. The country he lives in is very low lying and the water table rises to the surface preventing crops being grown to feed the population, provide employment and to be exported for income. That is why there are many hundreds of kilometres of drainage channels which empty into the natural waterways eventually. The beavers come up these man-made channels and block them. They are able to freely return to their natural habitat. You’re welcome……

Why do you need to tear down the dams? Seems like there is a benefit to retaining water on the land, and allowing the water tables and aquifers to recharge.
@JVHorvath1Ай бұрын
these are generally storm ponds. they are made ponds that are points on property to collect the extra field water so the fields dont drown. when fields drown the produce, grain, and in this case grass that the cows munch on die off fast. they then dig trenches to bigger rivers for the water to flow into naturally. the ponds and channels are higher than those rivers so no chance of the rivers to push back onto the farmland during the storm. when beavers block these ponds with damns it doesnt really show for the first few storms but after like 4 to 5 storms worth of rain the pond edges start to erode away, the water takes the nutrients from the soil which should be going to whats growing there, and the fields start to flood. if you have cattle then the weight of the cattle can clomp around on the wet grass creating a mud pasture where if they spook they can slip and fall and break something, also still kills vegetation, and can create bad hoof conditions for your cattle stomping around in those conditions all day. also, beavers do migrate they wont stay in one location if their food source has depleted. so the damn probably was empty (why keep an empty damn); and there are agencies out there (for anyone who was going to ask this question later) that will relocate beavers to safer (non-farm) habitats with trackers so that they are further away from civilization in general. hope this answers your question.

At 16:20 on the bottom left corner a large black or dark brown thing seems to caught in the current. It gets almost to the edge where the water is strongest and goes against the current near the middle of the screen to get to the edge. It then seems to get caught in the whirlpool then goes clockwise around back to the strongest current. It must be something alive. I am guessing it is a turtle.
