We have one more video before we’ll be posting videos from our adventures this year… it was important to us to tell all of our story from before Abigail passed away.

We call that bottom soil pluff mudd. It is insanely soft and fluffy and can mess with depth finders. I've never heard of an anchor that is "pluff drag proof." An anchor that resets quick is your best bet in deep pluff.

Sounds like an accurate description. Luckily this spot was very well protected to sit out the couple days of stormy weather so that wasn’t a big problem.

Nope... We don;t leave our Roci ever really. A week here, a weekend there yes, but for months? Oh no, she is our only home, that's just the way we want it.

Todd I think you are right, the sonar is probably not getting a reading in the muck.

Have you a stock of tallow for arming your lead? Not that it would have shown anything with that goo. That semi liquid bottom would very likely confuse your echo sounder.

No we don’t. Tell us more.

@@Spoondrifters Traditionally the end of the lead had a shallow cup shaped recess. This was filled with tallow and the tallow would collect a sample of the sea bed. This tells you if it will be good holding. Watch £Master and Commander" and you hear the leadsman calling out the depth (in fathoms) followed by the bottom. "Sand and shale" or whatever.

Hmmmm.....some DF say they measure from 2 feet to ????. Mebbe the depth being less than 2' under keel is causinh the misread and flashing ?

Are you actually going to leave America and go somewhere? Europe? South America, even maybe Panama and the west coast.

Someday. We’re exploring our own country first. Those places are all on our to do list but we’re right here, right now enjoying our own backyard. And we spent a season in the Bahamas. So 🤷🏻‍♀️😂
