The fruit that you ate is called starfruit or carambola in English. In Vietnamese it is called khế. It’s very common in SE Asia. Normally you wait til it turns yellow. There are two varieties, the sweet one and the sour one. For the sour one, people eat with salt and chili flakes. When you cut up the fruit, it looks like a star, hence the name. Bích is not pronounced “bitch” but rather like the German “ich”. So, more like “bik”. It’s a hard language for sure.
