Fun superstition I learned about recently: Have you ever been driving around in the US, particularly Pennsylvania and surrounding areas, and seen a red, five-pointed star over the door of a barn? That started because of a cryptid known as the 'snollygoster' (Originally 'Schnell-Ghast', or 'fast ghost' in German). The beast was said to be frightened of the symbol, so the star was meant to protect the livestock.

As a russian I can confirm we are a very superstitious bunch. Some of our superstitions: - when you sweep your floor, always sweep towards the door to sweep negative energy out. - never hug or kiss a loved one through a door rim, especially if they're leaving the house as it suggests you/they will never return - we also have the evil eye thing, where someone can wish you bad luck by staring at you in a specific way. We don't have those stones to protect ourselves though - when you don't want something bad to happen, instead of just touching the wood, you spit over your left shoulder 3 times and knock on wood 3 times - never give someone an even number of flowers, as this is usually given at funerals I can't think of any more right now but there's loads

Originally he always said "Thoughty 2" but got comments about it sounding like "42." He has had some fun with that and it is never clear now which he says for any given video. The key is to watch his lower lip. "F" in English is an unvoiced labio-dental fricative; we make it by putting our lower lip against our front upper teeth and blowing through it without using our vocal chords. The "th" sound in "Thoughty" is an unvoiced lingual-dental fricative: same as "F" but instead of our lower lip we place the tip of our tongue against the front upper lips. He says "Thoughty" in kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5TKnndoqqmKqas nearly 7 years ago - note his lower lip does not touch his teeth - but in this video it does, making the "F" sound. It looks to me like he is nearly always saying "Forty" now.

As a Korean, there's one thing I want to clarify about these Korean online fan death rumors. Some people seem to think that nearly all the fans manufactured in Korea still come with timers attached due to Koreans still widely believing the myth. This is not because many of us still believe in a such ridiculous myth, but it is to save electricity while having a comfortable sleep. Korea can become boiling hot during summer, with the climate temperature soaring over 30 degrees (86 in fahrenheit). Yet, we have very limited source of electricity and high electricity bill, so we can't run the fan all night. As a resolution, we make the fans (or air conditionals too) with timers, so fans can be turned off automatically after we fall asleep to save electricity. The good old fan death myth was widely spread in Korea around from 80s up to as far as 90s, and some old people might still believe in it, but you'll be indeed likely to become a laughing stock in Korea these days if you believe in such myth or act like if people are still believing it. I'll say much more prevalent myth in Korea (or more like entire East Asia) which this video surprisingly didn't cover is writing in red ink. We East Asians are totally frantic about writing things in red, especially name or signature, because it is believed that such action will generate a curse. Especially, writing someone's name in red can be taken as wishing that person a death. It's so widely spread that if you write something with red ink, especially someone's name, on company documents, you'll get harshly scolded or even fired in the worst case.

When I was in Turkey 24 years ago in my early youth I recall an elderly Turkish woman storming up to me and placing a nazar in my hand. Apparently she was convinced that I had a massive dark shadow around me and that this pendant would protect me(our holiday rep translated for us afterwards). It is a nazar but the eye was hanging from a silver chain and had red slik wrapping around the base and top of the eye. I still have it to this day and every now and then I take it out just to admire how ornate it is and how strange that encounter was. I was only a young boy at the time so I didn't think much of it. What was really bizarre though is that despite how ornate it is she wanted nothing in return from my parents or me. She just took my hand and placed it in my palm, looked me in the eyes and spoke something in Turkish which we later found out that she was telling me to never ever lose it or misplace it and that she felt that i needed to have it. Very strange encounter I must say and I never forgot about it. I still have the nazhar she gave me

Anybody who could do math can figure out that Jesus did not die on a Friday, according to man's tradition.! Since HE was in the grave" three days and three nights" just as Jonah, was in the belly of a whale three full days and three full nights according to the Bible ; and we know that HE rose before dawn of the first day of the week,"Sunday morning ,"it's very clear that Good Friday should actually be called Good Thursday! furthermore, HE was sacrificed as a lamb. At the same time the Jews were sacrificing the Lambs for the passover feast which would be a Thursday night. Matthew 12:14 John 1:29 John 19:31 John 20 : 1 But the best news I have is HE has resin, and is seated at the right hand of the FATHER . And HE is coming back for HIS church!!!!!!

My grandma said that a single young woman shouldn't give clothings (handkerchief, shirt, trousers, etc) to a man, unless it is meant to be sold to that man (with money/gold as a symbol of this exchange given by the man for the clothing). Especially the man is a lover of the woman. My grandma said that if you do so, that man will never be hers/going to marry another girl later.

Stories of "the evil eye" exist in many cultures. One has to wonder if (maybe) there is something to these stories. So many of them, from so many different places... Granted, the stories have "evolved", I am sure. I doubt that people instantly fell sick, but I do wonder if there is some truth at the beginning of these stories.
