I have something else that involves D-Day coming out next week. I promise it is not another vehicle! As a side note, these are sometimes considered one of the famous “Hobart’s Funnies” but he wasn’t involved with them in any way.

What is the difference of the shapes on the tank turret what do they symbolize in different ways?

The tri-color flag that you see on the side of it in some of the pictures is the flag of the royal mechanical and electrical engineers. They are the folks that built and operated the BARV.

Theres one of these sitting sorry for itself at the back of a museum here in uk it really needs to be restored and put on the floor it's all original paint and its white

Scottish Bonsai That really is a shame. I looked up the tank you mentioned and it seems to be complete. I am sure they could get a group of volunteers together (myself included) to help restore it. Always sad to see rare and interesting vehicles like that rotting away. I used to live close to fort Benning in Georgia. They have a warehouse full of all sort of tanks in similar condition to the BARV you told me about. I know they have a King Tiger, Tiger I, and panther and as far as I know they have never been on display. The least they could do for that poor BARV is get it out of the elements.

There more interested in swapping the engine out the panzer 3 than they seem.to be of this bit of history just sitting rotting away and wanting to build 1 tank out the 2 for there shows etc they put on for the public just hope money making hasn't got in the way of what lays in the back

I’m sure it can tell a story especially when you consider that they didn’t make many of them at all. It almost certainly saw action on D-Day.

I enherited a photo of a normal sherman tank that my grandfather took just after he had landed on d-day. Not this odd tank but still very cool. Got it along with a luger that he took off a nazi at the battle of the bulge

That'll be the 6th one it's on the tank museums channel at the end if you want to see it it's in a yard with a few others waiting to see if it has a future it's a shame
