Hi all,
In this video we look at basic manufacturing within Eve Online. Tech 1 items are a good place for Newbros to start to get a feel for Eve industry. The skill requirements are low for the majority of T1 techs and although profits can be tight ISK can be made. I show you what skills are required, how to find items to made and how to work out the profits. I also go into how minerals you mine are not free towards the end of the video.

Back in the day I also needed the hint: "Self mined Ore isn't free ore". I sold a variety of T1 drones until I had a talk with a local merchant who pointed out the obvious.

Another great video. I only had a few BPOs -- had 3 capital construction blocks (?) and some fuel blocks. The construction blocks were great money makers. I also watched Rattlesnake BPC prices and would build a few when the stars aligned :)

I sadly suffer from "manufacturing creep", any time that there is an item(s) to build an item, I fall down into the rabbit hole of having to get that BP and build it. Oddly enough, I have moved into reactions stuff. It doesn't take long to realize, in most cases it is so much simpler and in many cases, cheaper, to just purchase an item outright. I remember you mentioned, there are people that just like to build for the sake of building, guilty as charged. ;-) But, you have to admit the first time you built a capital ship or a freighter or the like, there was a sense of accomplishment. Cheers.

A good way to think about it is in terms or premiums. For example, when you buy minerals to manufacture an item. The profit you make from that manufacturing is the premium of manufacturing. Another example of a premium is setting up a buy order for an item and then resell the item, the premium is the profit you make from the trade. Now generally, if you are not efficient at a particular process, say you cannot efficiently manufacture items after buying minerals, you will have to charge a higher premium to make a profit. However, you are competing with people who can charge a smaller premium because they are more efficient which stops you from charging the premium you need to make a profit. Therefore, it's usually better to pay the premium to someone else rather than trying to capture it for yourself, i.e it's usually better just to buy the manufactured item at a higher price than trying to buy minerals and build it yourself. This is why it's good to specialize in one thing, rather than trying to do everything. But obviously, do what you find fun before you try to maximise you ISK/time.

You know, when you started repeating the mantra about the mats not being free, it really did take a few repetitions for my brain to process the idea. I had never before considered that I was doing myself out of money by not considering the value of just selling the mats back to the market. Just because I got them myself, for no isk, doesn't mean they aren't worth isk in the process.

Because of time. in a way you can end up making less money if you mine all your resources yourself because it takes you so much longer than just buying the resources. If you just bought the resources and started production right away, you might have made more money in the same amount of time because you are actively producing while being able to do something else, like running some missions. I am a filthy casual and don't have that much time to actively play for long sessions and industry allows me to still make money while offline. Instead of mining hundreds of millions worth of resources, i just buy them and throw them into the factories and thus instantly start increasing the value. Mining would just be like very slowly buying the stuff i need and completely inefficient in my situation. I am making about 100 - 150m per week while basically only doing 6 jumps between my factory and jita every few days to move my things around. I have come to love my Mastodon. My first and probably only T2 ship for a long while. I hope i explained it well enough :)

@@kajarslibrary5404 I am doing very similar to you except I tend to go to Jita every day and I set my factories to produce for 23 hours so I can evaluate each day whether to continue producing an item or switch. However I am working on getting my materials stockpile up so I can produce for a week and cut down on time spent managing my manufacturing operation.

Excellent introduction to industry! A question: I'm in nullsec in quite a big corp so we have established sov, citadels etc. I never roam outside of null on that character and it has maxed PI skills. Should I train manufacturing on that char or create a new one to manufacture in highsec? Is there any downside to doing it in null instead of NPC space?

so good you are pointing that out the value of materials you use to make stuff lol. so much stuff beeing sold on the markeds around, that are priced way below material price, and i cant for the life of me understand why people doing that. first you get some stuff, then you take the time to produce, just to sell it cheaper then what you could get for the materials in first place, so if your one of those, why even bother? ive taken alot of those deals, and just buy, to put stright back on marked for dobbel price, so not really complaining, just struggeling to understand why people give away theyr hard earned isk like that:)

Their material cost may be much lower than yours depending how they obtain them plus maybe they researched blueprint to reduce costs even further. Also taxes, broker fees, manufacturing job fee may be much lower than yours. I agree though, many people out there overproducing ammo for example when they should just be buying it off the market.

@@dag_of_the_west5416 considering im lucky enougth to be in a corp and place of space where we have the games best stations for production, and taxes so low, there is really not possible to get them significant lower. for my materials, i usually go after cheapest stuff in jita and amarr, witch for most part are infact cheapest in game, and thats what you gotta look for, what you can sell your materials for, not how much you paid for them, or if you obtained them yourself from mining and so on

@@ryanharvey2337 You can compress in station (Right-Click on the ore and Compress). For every 100 unit of ore, it will create 1 unit of compress ore. I am looking into market details and if more isk could be make this way.
@randomhominid9816
@randomhominid9816 3 жыл бұрын
Ore compression is very simple and works similarly to processing ore into minerals. You can't do it at NPC owned stations it must be owned by a player who has ore processing enabled. You can find player owned stations that can do this in the structure browser under the utilities menu. You need 100 units of ore for each 1 unit of compressed ore. Go to the player owned station put your ore in the inventory , right click on the ore, and select compress. There is no fee to compress unlike processing into minerals. The ore is not only now much easier to transport but it usually increases in value. Meaning 1 compressed ore will sell higher than the 100 uncompressed units before compression.
